I found this pretty amusing and see Clint is still badass at 86.

Long interview but here's an excerpt:

ESQ: Your characters have become touchstones in the culture, whether it's Reagan invoking "Make my day" or now Trump … I swear he's even practiced your scowl.

CE: Maybe. But he's onto something, because secretly everybody's getting tired of political correctness, kissing up. That's the kiss-ass generation we're in right now. We're really in a pussy generation. Everybody's walking on eggshells. We see people accusing people of being racist and all kinds of stuff. When I grew up, those things weren't called racist. And then when I did Gran Torino, even my associate said, "This is a really good script, but it's politically incorrect." And I said, "Good. Let me read it tonight." The next morning, I came in and I threw it on his desk and I said, "We're starting this immediately."

ESQ: What is the "pussy generation"?

CE: All these people that say, "Oh, you can't do that, and you can't do this, and you can't say that." I guess it's just the times.

ESQ: What do you think Trump is onto?

CE: What Trump is onto is he's just saying what's on his mind. And sometimes it's not so good. And sometimes it's … I mean, I can understand where he's coming from, but I don't always agree with it.

ESQ: So you're not endorsing him?

CE: I haven't endorsed anybody. I haven't talked to Trump. I haven't talked to anybody. You know, he's a racist now because he's talked about this judge. And yeah, it's a dumb thing to say. I mean, to predicate your opinion on the fact that the guy was born to Mexican parents or something. He's said a lot of dumb things. So have all of them. Both sides. But everybody—the press and everybody's going, "Oh, well, that's racist," and they're making a big hoodoo out of it. Just fucking get over it. It's a sad time in history.

He is right. I've been fortunate to have been brought up as a kid watching Clint Eastwood's movies, than whatever bullshit they put out today. You have to wonder where the loud, obnoxious, unapologizing American has gone nowadays, one that all Europeans begrudgingly respected. I never, ever thought that socialism would go over in that country. I figured that the people were just too hard-boiled, too conscious of their rights and freedoms, to admit that they need help from the government to survive.

Perhaps the struggles and failures in Vietnam or Iraq have demoralized the people.

As important as it is that we don't accept an old, senile actor's political musings as any but that, I happen to agree with him. Not on the pussy generation bit as I think that's how every generation feels about the following ones (and its how they should feel, if they did their job right of leaving the world a better, more civil place), but on the fact that Trump is just a dude speaking his mind. He says some ignorant, ill-conceived shit, but the media likes to take any opportunity they can to portray him as a charicature of what he is. It's overly dramatic and annoying.

The headlines about this story were very misleading

Eastwood Defends Trump's Racism

Eastwood Defends Trump's Racist Remarks

Clint Eastwood: Every one needs to get over Trump's racism

Some headlines even suggested that Eastwood called Trump a racist

Like:

"Clint Eastwood: Donald Trump says racist things"

Badass? He's an actor guys. Is it really that hard to tell the difference between real badasses and those who play one on TV?

Man oh man. To be part of the Pussy Generation, that would be a shame. It's good to be old.

This happens to every society that conquered large territories.

The conquerors were absolute badasses. Peerless warriors with endless stamina and willpower to succeed. They came from nothing, death would be better than going back to that.

Each generation after though, not so much. They want to emulate their ancestors that brought them such high standards of living and wealth, but they have no way to compete with that accomplishment.

Generation after generation gets weaker and weaker because of the convience that a high quality of life they are born into brings.

The Mongols who conquered Asia grew up wearing mouse hide clothes and eating raw horse meat... their successors grew up in silk sitting on mounds of tribute and eating imported delicacies.

the part where he says in his day those things werent called racist. in his day you could killed for whistling at a white woman. hes that old. that wasnt a sad time in history apparently.

He also talks to chairs.

He has a point but I only see it for a segment of the "new" generation not all of it and a segment of the "old" generation are the ones that put up with it and encouraged it.

He's definitely right. I read today that people make less sex than previous generations

The SJW generation is absolutely unbearable.

Any little thing gets attacked if someone, somewhere can interpret it a certain way, even if thats not anywhere close to how it was meant.

When he was a kid, you could straight up murder black people, and people would just quietly take it. People weren't pussies standing up for themselves and their fellow citizens then. Meek acceptance of injustice is super manly and shit.

That interview reads like a bad 80s comic doing an Eastwood impression.
