so i was wondering if cleans are harder if you use the height of 25lb plates instead of 45s. (my current max is 175 x 2). Im just curious, i want to handle as much weight as i can i guess, i just normally use 25lbers cause i train with a weaker dude.

Slightly. Getting the weight off the ground is the easiest part of the clean so it won't make as much a difference as with, say, deadlifts.

^ I agree, unless your doing hang cleans, then it will have basically no difference

Could it possibly be easier with 25's because you have built up more momentum by the time the bar is above the knees and you are going into the second pull?

if you want to gain strength for the clean, work heavily on your squat. the cleaning technique is really hard to get down pact, you have to come down to the bar and frontsquat it up if you want more to do more weight. bringing the bar to you exerts more energy.

as soo as you go to snatch the barand it gets about knee high, drop down really quick and catch the bar just slightly above that point. it takes a lot of getting used to but the gains are great. might also want to work on heavy deadlifting followed by a couple sets of elevated shoulder shrugs with heavy weight.

Yeah, im not really sure, that could be a possibility. Juggernaut thanks for the advice i already DL heavy and Shrug as well.

If you're talking two different size plates here, not just weight, so no bumpers. Then the 25's would be lower to the ground and lengthen the amount you have to pull.

The answer here is obvious...

Cleans will be much easier with the 25s rather than the 45s, simply because the load is a combined 40lbs lighter.
