Sooo just curious, how do you guys clean gloves, wraps and your gym bag?...I'm afraid to put my crappy boxing/bag gloves in the wash..as it will ruin the material. Also how would you clean a gym bag..smells like shit. Should i buy that Arm&hammer or w/e that yellow odor defense stuff is?

gym bag is filthy but im not making love to it so it doesnt bother me.

I give my gloves a good airring out after every session, if they are filthy i'd use a fabric cleaning software and a rag to give em a good wipe and clean.

my wraps go into the wash (in a holey ziplock type bag), or if u cant use those just wash em in some soapy water in a bucket, then let them air dry on the clothes line.

cleaning the outside of the gym bag you could use whatever you want, nothings really gonna harm that thick leather.

well..i tried airring my gloves/shinpads/bag glove and it just smelt like pure shit. I don't knwo what it is....I tried using the disinfectant spray and just sprayed a small bit on a rag and it just smells like crap as well....I think I should just leave my gloves the way they are. and Im going to try that ziploc bag technique maybe. As for my gym bag, it isnt leather its like a thing material..dunno what its called.

put ur gloves in the freezer over night.. and let it air out for a day or two... that'd kill some of the bacteria..

maybe invest in some cedar chips in a sock and stuff em into ur gloves (or buy glove dogs)

for handwraps.. buy a handwrap laundry bag either at ringside or title in their handwrap section..

for gym bag.. throw it in the wash..

never thought of that, and yeah ice wouldnt hurt the leather to my knowledge.

glove dogs are always popular, its a given.

ps: macks I misread, when you said gym bag i must of seen heavy bag lol, umm yeah if its some kind of synthetic material, like polyester, just wash it in warm soapy water then let it dry out after you've rinsed it.

most gym bags are polyester i believe

On my gloves I use clorox wipes that come in the plastic container....I wipe all over the inside and outside very thoroughly after every session I use them. Then I use armorall wipes from the automotive section at walmart to clean and condition the outside to make sure the harsher clorox cleaner doens't hurt the leather.

I'd just get some antimicrobial freebreeze for your gym bag unless its some sort of material that you coudl just through in the washer.

I've started using Defense wipes on my shin pads and gloves.

Good idea.Nice new gear on the site Ron.Gis and the gloves are up there now, right?Makes me almost wish I used a gi looking at your ones...:D

Gloves - I let them air out
Wraps - I hand wash them in cold and air dry
Shin Pads - I air dry
BJJ Kimono - I machine wash cold and air dry

I've also invested in a bottle of Febreeze Anti-microbial (orange cap, not the blue cap) and give everything a couple hits when I hang it up to air-dry...and I'll spray the inside of my gloves every other workout

Occasionally, when my shin pads get REALLY nasty, I'll run them under cold water to get any sort of "buildup" on the skin-contact part off...then I spritz with said Febreeze and air dry...

^ dang doesn't it take long to dry....how long does it take?.....I don't wanna wait a week...-_-

My gloves, wraps, and shin pads all dry by the next day, if I need to use them then (I train MT on T/Th, so I have plenty of time in between)...shin pads will dry in one day, even if I rinse them under some running water...

The kimono takes about 3 days to completely dry out...which is why I have two kimonos...one's drying while the other is in use...

^ thanks, but i've heard if you leave your kimono outside...and the you air dry it, then doesnt mildew/mold grow on it?..

I don't hang it outside...I hang it up in my room and leave the ceiling fan on low to keep air circulating...

Lol..i don't got a fan in my room -_-.... whats the harm in putting it in the dryer?.......

for wraps, just throw them in a pillowcase, tie the pillowcase in a knot at the top. and wash.

easy and it still gets em super clean, plus you dont have to pay the 5 bucks for a wash bag just for your wraps.

^ thx for that great idea :D!!..do you roll it up though and close the velcro?...or what.

I've heard (and it kinda makes logical sense) that after prolonged drying in a dryer, the heat and stuff is just going to break down the cloth fibers and it'll weaken them; making it easier to tear...

Plus, when I ordered from HCK, Howard Liu calls you and gives you "proper care instructions"...so I just follow them. The only thing I've had tear thusfar (with a year and a half use of both my kimonos) is the drawstring in one of the pair of pants...everything else has been fine...still thick, durable, and tough...
