Well this theory is dependent on conditions that don't apply across the board, such as an economy that people will lend to at near zero rates with economic and military strength. We are not Greece where we would have nothing one would be willing to invest in such a graveyard industry and no power to prevent being compelled from paying debts.

We are the most extreme case study that MMT would work on, the fact it's working on Japan a country with a very very cloudy demographic future(they are on a demographic pace to go extinct) and with a bunch of bizzare issues is very promising. We are not the grey area if this works at all we are the country this works on because we have the worlds reserve currency and are the most economically and militarily secure civilization in all of human history.

What makes you think she isn't. I literally just typed that she did not vote to directly fund ICE. She voted to fund the Department of Homeland Security.

Here's a list of all of the agencies within DHS. Tell me how she can fund all of them and not fund ICE.

It's absurd to say that she's dumb because she objects to a subagency within a larger federal department. And she didn't vote on individual subagencies, she voted to continue funding to the group.

To put this in other terms. Someone votes to continue funding their local public schools then they say "Elementary School X needs to be closed." Bunch of idiots run out and say doesn't that person realize they just funded that school. Obviously, but you can't not fund 99% of the public schools while you wait to shutter Elementary School X.

People want to cut welfare...but they still want to fund the government. Are they idiots because they fund the government and then state objections to specific programs within that government?

Or should we not fund any of the government while we wait?

The point is, her question is dumb when she just voted to fund it. Yes, politics are complicated and confusing. That said, I expect an elected official to know that she voted for something and not demand to know where the money comes from AFTER. Its comes from elected officials agreeing in majority to fund it.

To everyone watching, it appears that she voted in ignorance, along the party line but then remembered to get back into character after.

I been told multiple times in threads that AOC is so smart got here age, how can she be so dense here about Trump. It’s one thing to hate Trump and assume a lot of things but still keep some logic and basic sense. Palin had actual experience in running a state, and she did it well. Crazy High Fin Lady has degree in economics, is 29, bartender for family, living with her mom, and couldn't figure out how to pay for a DC apartment despite 535 other congressmen having no issue.
