Clarity on the LW title

I'v not been up to date with the news,but has Conor been stripped already?

It's the official poster and it clearly doesn't mention any interim title. Is Tony the interim champion or are they both fighting for the vacant LW title?

I think UFC are doing this on purpose to create some controversy.

Does the UFC even know what they want to do with this? I think they are hoping that this will put pressure on Conor and force him to sign to fight the winner. Dana has been very careful to be as vague as possible about this and bully anyone who tries to get him to give a clear answer.

Funny how all the paper titles are making things confusing.

Don’t worry about “holding up divisions” and titles meaning anything. We’re in the “money fight” era. It’s going to be like boxing with no division stability, no lineage, and constantly vacated titles... but since UFC doesn’t co-promote they have to make up titles to prop up “big unification bouts”.

All the hype surrounding this sham title fight will die when Conor gets tired of counting millions, and decides to fight again. The MMA World hangs on Conor's every word, not Khabib and Tony.

Someone mentioned before that contractually the UFC had more say over what a fighter does if he is the champion - like whether he can quit or hop off to another org since they are supposed to be free and independent contractors.

So thats probably the reason why the UFC is reluctant to formally strip Conor if the title. Its a problem that the UFC just found out - that a big name can just flat out refuse to defend the belt unless the terms are agreeable to them (renegotiate Trump style), and dare the UFC to do something about it. Conor is a big enough name to go elsewhere or do another circus boxing match so the UFC doesn't want to strip him.
