Chuck's greatest attributes, IMO.

His ability to land power punches on his back foot, and his ability to land in between your punches. Also, in a fire fight, would never have his eyes closed, and would know what he was doing, and where he was at, at all times. The man seriously did not panic, and that's one of the main things that made him so great.

It was by accident that he was such a long reigning champ. And he has this stigma of being a wild swoning brawler with the newer ufc fans, but they fail to realize how deadly and pinpoint accurate the man was.

I'd agree with the OP that Chuck's ability to land backing up or just whilst defending the takedown was his great skill. He often gets compaired to JDS and whilst there similar in a lot of respects I think that's one area where Chuck clearly has a big edge on Jnr although I think Dos Santos is clearly better on the front foot, offensively and defensively.
