Chris Weidman Was Not 100-Percent When He Defeated Anderson Silva at UFC 162

    MMAWeekly.com

UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman was able to do what no other 185-pound fighter could before him, hand former titleholder Anderson Silva his first UFC loss in seven years of competition when the two fought at UFC 162 on July 6.

    ...

“I think I went out there and worked hard and went for everything that I felt. In the first round, I went for the heel hook and knee bar. I didn’t get it, but I went for it. I felt a little sluggish in there,” said Weidman during the UFC World Tour: Weidman vs. Silva 2 Press Conference in Las Vegas on Tuesday.

    ...

“I had a year off. I had two back-to-back surgeries. So I didn’t feel 100-percent, but I still felt good enough to get the win,” he said.

    ...

“I was prepared to go five rounds in the last fight. I didn’t necessarily feel tired. I just felt off. I felt a little sluggish, a little slower,” said Weidman.

    ...

“I’m excited to have a full camp and be able to not have to nurse an injury and I’m excited for this next fight,” said the champion.

Funny how both Weidman and Anderson claim not to be 100%, and it's actually probably true. Weidman was definitely not 100% after that long layoff. Anderson, who knows, he's a troll and who knows when he's joking or not.

But the 2nd fight will have an epic build-up regardless. Anderson will come in with a different strategy, but Weidman can still TKO him. Very excited for the rematch. Anything can happen here. Toss-up fight IMO.

    No one is ever 100%

The lay off would have affected him.

Looking forward to Weidman silencing the doubters in the rematch.

What is Anderson's excuse? Weidman was coming off of a layoff and surgeries. That was one of the think that was dampening my mood going into that fight. I felt Weidman was the guy to beat Anderson, but was worried about him not being at a hundred percent.

I think Weidman has the potential to crush Anderson this time around. Anderson may have performance issues after being knocked out brutally. He is a striker so he can't go getting gun-shy. Still, of course Anderson will be in the fight, and remains one of the most dangerous guys in the division. I'm psyched.

Anderson's Achilles heel is wrestlers. Unless he finishes his opponent, he has lost every round he's every had with a strong wrestler, 7 out of 7.

Anderson's taunting was the only thing he could do to win. If he doesn't finish the fight he losses every round again and losses 50-45. He had to get Weidman to commit and take him out with a counter-punch followed by that uncanny ability of his to finish fights when his opponent is hurt. It didn't work this time.

JDS KOed Cain the first time when he was not 100%
Weidman KOed AS the first time when he was not 100%

Seeing a pattern here. Makes me want to root for AS more this time round, all in my vcash when it happens.

I think 85 % weidman is just as good as Jones at 50 percent. We know Anderson was at 75% so maybe someone can do the math and save us from the super fight.

    85% W = 50% J
    85% W > 75% S

    100% J > 100% S

Easy math, don't even need to calculate, yes I'm Asian.

Problem with the equation is that how do you know 85% Weidman = 50% Jones?

Newsflash: no fighter ever is. The fact that it makes the news is the funny thing.
