I remember when I first started watching mma and this kid was 17 same age as me. He went on a tear in ifl then floundered. Anyone else think he was going to be great? Guess he just met tougher competition

Yep, part of the Roger Huerta, Houston Alexander, Sokoudjou and Denis Kang club.

There's still time. Lance Palmer would be a solid win.

Weird I was just thinking about him. He's young in actual age, but in fight years he seems pretty shot.

You got resurrected eh, playa? Why'd they give you the hammer in the first place?

shawn thompkins passing affected a lot of good fighters

He was protected and built up in the IFL, started believing he was better than he was. Ended up being a brawler when fighters were evolving, just didn't keep up.

Shame really. He has a smug look, but saw an interview with him and he seemed like a decent kid.

His trainer said he would be better than Fedor. Next fight this happens.

When he got annihilated by Ryan Schultz in their rematch fight in the IFL it forever changed his career trajectory.

He probably takes 10 full power shots completely unprotected from a reverse figure-four (last 7 were unnecessary).

Some guys can never recover from a beating that brutral, sad to see.

A lot of people buy into young fighters that do well becoming greats, but it can't happen for everyone. Just like hbow people will see a fighter with even a decent amount of athleticism and say "well if they trained with so and so from the start....", and that's just not the case as well. MMA is about the mind to a significant degree, and as long as you don't have a significant physical flaw (slow, poor chin, etc.) you'll do well with a mind that is analytical, responsive, and creative. Horodecki, I don't think he had the mind to evolve to the next level. I know the loss of Shawn Tompkins was hard on his students, but Horodecki started to level off before then.

I was impressed with him on IFC and was a fan due to how he looked like a boy fighting men due to his babyface and less than ripped body. If I remember right, he was good at getting solid kicks to the head. But he did seem smaller than his opponents back then (which also made his victories cool).

IMO, Horodecki is too small and a bit doughy at 155, and would be way to slow for 145. Not athletic enough to compete with the elite.

Technically proficient at several disciplines, but not outstanding in any one area.
