Is it a real comeback or some publicity stunt?
He was one of my favorite fighters but not sure if it would really be a good thing for him to box again.

wasn't he saying a while ago that he wanted to cut his foot off because it hurt so bad from boxing? I doubt it.

Yea he was. Thats why I found it so weird. He says he wants to fight at middle weight.

"Instead, he wants to write not just a new ending, but an alternate plot to his career entirely.

“I'm going to relive my career, the real career I was supposed to fight at middleweight,” said Byrd Mon Sep 14, 2020

well, he wouldn't be the first boxer to fight long past the point of being shot, very strange though, it sounded like he was having a hard enough time just getting by day to day.

    I remember that

He got a lot of criticism for fighting in the heavies when he could have fought at 168

I respect him for it though. Takes balls to fight those giants. Same for Toney. Jones too but he didn't stay there long

Whats crazy is he went 12 rounds with one of the Klits and outboxed Tua, if he was a natural heavy he could have dominated the division but ill always remember him getting his head taken off by Ibeabuchi.

Didn't Byrd go down to 175 like 15 years ago and get battered by journeyman Shaun George? Byrd was getting his ass beaten so bad I remember to this day his trainer, an old school black dude saying "Hurry up and finish him, I need a drink."

He was not shot in 2000. He was by the time the 2006 rematch happened.

How would the rjj who beat ruiz go against prime heavyweight byrd. It's a shame rjj didn't stay at heavyweight for a couple more fights

I've listened to a few interviews of byrd and he still looks in shape and talks well. He would be stupid to fight again. As always to be a champion you need the attitude of "im the best, i can anything"

Sadly that attitude doesn't transition well for retired boxers. Just ask holyfield. He thought he could win a title at 45 years old.
