Choy lee Fut kung fu Full Contact

CLF is a solid system.

just pray your sifu is solid too. thats the major problem with chiense systems these days.

it only takes about 20-30 years for the west to totally bastardize and utterly mcdojo a system.

looks good tho

Too bad when I was studying Choi Li Fut it wasn't full contact, in sparring sessions you couldn't leg kick or punch/kick to the face. Only to the body. But I did enjoy it. I think the reason was that most of the people studying it at my school were looking to get into shape, and they wanted to keep sparring toned down a little for some of the people there.

OMG watching that made me miss my high school days. I used to train in CLF and my school back then was totally into full contact/alive training and everything. They didn't even have a belt or ranking system.

When I came back from college everything had changed. No more full contact, only point sparring, a new mcdojo pay-as-you-rank belt system, the works. Made me sad :(

lots of chinese systems are eff if u don't ratchet down the contact and continuity, which only happens in america...

i have sparred trained or watched challenge matches between guys who do these systems and train in the old school manner and u would be surprised how eff they were even when losing or even more surprised when they won against the holy trinity of mma boxing/ muay thai/bjj...

its who and how u train..not always just the art; even the most eff art is garbage if u don't put in work to refine wht u learned.

i literally watched a kung fu guy guy go heads up and draw w/ a friend of mine who was a capable striker (i,e. boxing/karate/etc) and had a solid background in grappling in submissions (having seen him hold his own w/some div 2 all american wrestlers, judo blkbelts, bjj competitive purple/brown belts)

Yeah that's how my school was :(

black was good with spinning backfist and hammers.smart fighter.

Our school's "full contact sparring" allows strikes to the leg and body but not to the head, and takedowns. It's good if you're starting out but it seems incomplete without head strikes as you get more experienced. We also do point sparring but I think that's the dumbest thing ever. And yes, I suck at point sparring.

Cool vid. Red's overhand to roundhouse combo was getting painfully predictable about a minute in.
