I dispute the theory that a high fat and high cholesterol diet will lead to high levels of Blood Cholesterol. Tomorrow, I am beginning a high fat and high cholestoral diet. I will follow this strictly for at least 2 weeks, then will take a fasting cholestoral test.

I will post the results (and my diet if anyone is interested) here.

Any guesses as to the results?

Why are you going on a high fat, high cholesterol diet? Sure post up what the diets going to be.

I need to lose weight, and atkins has worked for me before.

I will post what I have eaten at the end of each day.

Worked for you BEFORE.

Huh? You mean it helped you lose a little weight? Or you lost the weight and gained it back?

Atkins works on the short term... but it is really really unhealthy on the long term, and... of course, without proper exercise (and proper eating for that matter) getting OFF the Atkins diet is going to make you gain the weight back.

Seems like a terrible idea.

Actually, i was only on Atkins for a few weeks - the rest was moderation. I only put a little back on.

The 5 eggs is probably freaking people out. I do not subscribe to the theory that ingested Cholesterol is related to blood Cholesterol.

How much do you weight/height. 100+ carbs doesn't seem like a low carb diet to me.

are you double counting the fiber? it is a carb just a different form.

It may be helpfull if you listed your sugar intake as well.

I am 5 10 174.

I am not double counting the fiber.

Not sure what the sugar intake is - could look it up.

Ever see Supersize me? He got his cholesterol up with that diet. He also was getting fatty liver disease or something.

I saw Supersize me - That guy was eating McDonalds (buns and fries)- Large shakes and sodas.

That has nothing to do with my diet.

Assuming you're accuratly recording your daily intake...I'm interested in the results. I think you're barkin up the wrong damn tree, and I firmly believe there are better ways to live, but I do enjoy a good experiment, however poorly managed. Good luck chubby

I've done the low carb thing many times. You could even consider what I'm doing now low carb, at least in comparison to what a typical person eats. My cholesterol came down. At 19 my cholesterol was around 240. Last time I checked it had come down to 220. The same happened for my grandfather. He was diagnosed with diabetes and high cholesterol. The doc told him he would have to take insulin and cholesterol lowering drugs for the rest of his life. He went on atkins and lowered his blood sugar and cholesterol dramatically. He also lost a lot of weight, something many will say is the true source of his health improvement, while other's will say was another benifit of his diet. Since then he's moved to a modified version of low carb that the trendy dietitions would call low glycemic, but the important thing is he no longer has to worry about taking insulin or other drugs.

Either way I don't think the whole cholesterol thing even matters. Check out the Cholesterol Myth.

I've never tried it but all i've ever heard is how stupid low carb diet are. My mom's friend said "Low carb diet, HA, more like little to no energy at all diet." I've never tried it though, and i don't plan on it.

From what I've seen, the people that resort to low-carb diets, know jack shit about proper nutrition and while on said diet, they don't distingush between good and bad carbs. The right carbs eaten at the right times seems like a better approach to me.

I am too tired to post today's intake - Will do tomorrow.
