I discovered her through the WMMA thread. She looks like a real talent.

Kunlun lists her record as 18-3 now as opposed to Sherdog and Fight Finder with 9-1, curious who those 2 loses are to.

China and Kunlun Fight in particular have quite a few female prospects that are largely ignored.

I love the slicing elbows she threw through the guard in the finishing sequence here. Zhang looked good against Fujino as well even though the fight was stopped early after a cut, Kazak was a solid win for her as well.

Dat upward elbow, made her opponent crumble, would be cool to see it more in this situation

It was predominantly an all female card with only 2 decisions the whole card. Several KOs, lots of TKOs and submissions.

Her nationality might be China but she looks to me non-Chinese. I bet she's from inner Mongolia or Manchuria or North-East region.

China is a nation of many ethnicities, so technically she is still Chinese.

Chinese women are great athletes. I wont be surprised if they held the Joanna belt in 5 years.

    Is it because she's Chinese?

I'm not sure your lecture is needed here. I'm just hoping to see more Han Chinese (real Chinese) in MMA.

Until proven otherwise, I am going to be extremely skeptical when I see 'Chinese' and 'prospect' in the same sentence.

This one is pretty proven as a solid fighter at this point. She was beating Emi Fujino (and win via cut stoppage), and just beat a very good striker standing up. Zhang's foundation style is grappling and she's a great athlete. I expect to see her in the UFC or Invicta by 2017.

That would be sweet but I wonder if it's an ambition of hers. I wouldn't be surprised if she was happy to remain in China.

Oh I definitely agree there is a chance she'll just remain in China.

    few reasons for this, IMHO:
    1. Kunlan fights puts on so many events, most of them primarily kickboxing with a few MMA fights mixed in, it's hard to keep track of them.
    2. The great firewall of China. Hard to find streams to watch. It's like trying to watch Pride back in 2003.
    3. As far as this forum goes, in general people on here love to pick and choose what to promote. For example, Rizin is talked about constantly while the rest of JMMA is marginalized to one thread. ONE is talked about, while ROAD fans get called hipsters. Combine his factor with the other two, and it results in nobody hearing of these fighters.
