What is sure to ruffle some feathers in Moscow Chinese, Australians and US Marines are training together in some of the most difficult conditions the Australians can find. Australia largest trading partner China and US seems to want to cool conditions in the South China seas. Another reason could also be because of the biggest buildup of US military in that region in decades. So a little find common ground going on in Australia with the 3 military teams.

I am also sure some hope that all three leaders of these Countries find ways to come to logical solutions VS muscle flexing with their militaries. They all seem to be enjoying their cooperation in these harsh conditions as a small group they have to be more reliant on each other. Hopeful these things will expand and that common sense solutions come about with this style of cooperation.

Kinda bad timing with the whole Hong Kong thing going on.

Yes they mentioned that in the article how President Obama responded in support of the protestors. But I will say one thing it was not strong support but it was like he was covering his bases.

how big is our base in Aussie land?

So we are training with a country who is constantly committing espionage against our military? I doubt Moscow is worried in any way about this.

Interesting they mention the south China sea, hasn't China been harassing Vietnam in recent months by drilling off their coast and sinking a fishing boat?

Fortunately sounds small, probably symbolic for some silly reason

That article makes it seem as if, the US and Aussies are training the Chinese soldiers on how to survive in remote areas of Australia. Areas that are less populated and thereby much easier to infiltrate should the need arise.

Yeh right that is a good one.

I don't know about the size not ours but eventually as many as I believe 2,500 marines and sailors could be housed at the Australian base? Its at Darwin Australia not to far from Indonesia and borders the indian ocean and not to far from the South China Seas. There are already over 1,000 soldiers stationed for 6 month rotation at that base. Some will be stationed at Royal Australian Air Force Base and some at an Army base. I believe the US plans on building a new base out there eventually.

This sounds like the military equivalent of a politician holding a baby/small child while amongst the public.

Darwin is the absolute shit hole of Australia. If anything will kill you over here, it'll happen up there. Snakes, insects, jellyfish, sharks, crocodiles... they're everywhere. And the weather is atrocious.

Not to mention much closer to Indonesia then it is to any of the really populated bits of Australia.

Don't worry...just a big intel gathering op...Semper Fi
