As everyone talks about China's moves towards Taiwan one thing not talked about is China's aggressive moves towards Russia fishing areas an potentially deep sea drilling.

This could be even bigger news because everyone talks about how strong Russia is but I have a feeling this could pose a greater challenge. Stuff could get real fast if Russia an China put military ships in the Artic region an Russia sothern waters.

People are under the impression that China an Russia tend to see eye to eye on many issues but Xi has been putting efforts into nationalization an reducing reliance on other countries that includes Russia.

I expect the fishing thing is to setup a beach head for expansion an potentially oil access in these areas. China has become the biggest energy user an for continued growth will need more resources such as the South China seas an Artic drilling something Russia has control over somewhat.

This video very pro Russia but goes to show how serious Russia takes this issue.

Since at least 2014, Russia and China have seen their interests conflating against the United States and its allies. It is no surprise that both Russia and China (and their adversaries) see this “alliance” as flexible, pragmatic and based on mutual benefit, but not at the expense of either party’s distinct national interests – especially economic.

With the recent joint military exercises, hysterical discourse around a supposed joint Russia-China front across domains is emerging, yet despite this, not all is well between the Dragon and the Bear.

An undeclared quasi trade war on fisheries is ongoing between Russia and China. As early as October 2020, Russian media reported Chinese authorities were restricting fisheries imports from the Russian Far East."

I like The Frustrated Indian Global, but they do have very strong biases and they exaggerate everything.

China and Russia are natural enemies, America is the only glue keeping them together.

China still believes that the parts of Manchuria Russia took belongs to them.

China is relatively sneaky and Russia does not want to escalate things, so it’s going to be a while before the relationship as a whole gets bad, but there’s a lot of stuff like espionage, irredentism, and apparently now fishing rights.

The mighty Russia can just get on Chinese Facebook and turn their citizens against eachother right? Or is it China that's always doing that?

I never understood the demonizing of Russia other than the remnants of the Cold War. Putin keeps that entire region stable and, other than basic spying and tech fuckery that every country (especially the US) does, they have not been particularly hostile towards the US. Their social interests definitely don't align with China, and even if it did, the US Navy alone would shit all over a war involving a Russian/Chinese coalition.

Luckily though, it seems that everyone hates China. This is good for the US. We are quickly becoming the second most hated country after decades of being the great Satan worldwide. Even the Muslims will have a bigger bone to pick with China in the coming years.

Since the sino-soviet split. They almost went to war in 1969. At the time the USSR had an advantage. Now China is way more powerful than Russia. Larger economy, much larger population and comparable military technology.
Russia has really screwed up, their population decline, lack of economical growth and losing all that Soviet territory make it very hard for them to ever be a superpower anymore.

I was shocked to learn how bad Soviet-Chinese tensions were until I read the declassified conversations between Nixon and Kissinger with Mao and Zhou Enlai.

Also, reading a lot of Kissinger’s private conversations dispel the notion that he is some evil person, but that’s not going to change the mind of any of the NPC’s who think that.

China's also starting like 60 new coal fired power plants. Like I said Harkonnens of Giedi Prime. Problem is we all have to live on the same planet as them

China is in conflict with any country that borders them or they want resources from.

China is in conflict with everyone that doesn't have a submissive exploitive relationship with them. They seem to think they can lay claim to anything they want, from Taiwan, to the entire South China Sea, to the Arctic, to the fishing waters off the coast of South America.

It's going to be interesting when China gets all those Chinese who have immigrated to Siberia to agitate for independence from Russia.
