So why arent there 300mph street cars 30yrs Later. We havent seem to get faster. What is the fastest street production supercar now? Is it 300? i know the Bugatti goes over 200mph. (I woke up in a new Bugatti).

But check this beast out.

It gets exponentially harder the faster you are going. Wind resistance is immense.

To get from 180 to 190 might take a 100 horsepower bump. To get 190 to 200mph might take a 400 horsepower bump, depending on aerodynamics

they said in the video that they paid 1 million to have the tires developed for this car.
And those tires were special built and not road tires. The Bugatti Chiron is limited to 260mph because there’s no street tire that will hold up at higher speeds. I think that’s the fastest road car out now, but I’m not big on exotics so I’m probably wrong.
Callaway isn’t part of Chevy btw. It’s a private owned company that modifies cars like Yenko, Saleen, etc

^This.

Dam that videos is intense once he goes for it at the 4min mark. The gears shifting and the motor sound so freaking cool. he stay in it for awhile too.

I still prefer the sound of a lumpy american v8

That car is stock from the factory. Slap modern tires on that Thunderbolt and it becomes the fastest 1/4 mile production car to this day. Even with the shitty tires it came with in the 60's it's still faster than the Tesla, Aventador, 488, Hellcat, and 991.

300 mph street cars would result in thousands of deaths. most people can barely drive over 120 mph hour

Just one more reason why the decade of the 80's kicked ass
