Anyone know much about him? He looked smooth and Rogan was all over him. Did a search and didn't find much information on him. Wanted to see if he was the real deal and a threat at 155lbs. Was very impressive tonight.

All I have is a sense of scale:

Back about three fights, Charles was fighting in Brazil in smaller shows, and he fought another undefeated prospect called Alexandre Bezerra, who he submitted with an Anaconda Choke at the beginning of Round 2. I grappled with Alexandre in the semi finals of the Pans in 2009 at Lightweight Purple, and he absolutely destroyed me then, before going on to win the final in pretty dominant fashion, also beating a guy in the final who took Silver at Lightweight Brown at the Worlds this year. He didn't tap me back then, but was on a completely different level to me. So...he probably was brown belt level then, and that was a year and a bit ago, and Charles tapped him, so...I'm putting Charles at competition Brown or good Black Belt level, off the back of that.

If anyone cares enough to watch me get tooled:

But yeah. He's obviously a very very solid grappler. @[email protected]

    Take care,

    Oli

I liked how he could just reposition his legs half way through a triangle attempt. It shows that you have to be calm to be good at BJJ.

The words "sharp and crisp" come to mind when I saw his technique last night. I was so pumped after seeing his triangle knowing that I train in the same arts. I will say that he is a skinny looking guy, andthere are some huge 155 ers in the UFC.

    Thanks for the insight Oli.

Either he had very long legs or great control of his legs...or both.

I'm so jealous of guys who can adjust their triangles without using both of their hands. I hate having to let go of a guys head or arm so I can adjust or pivot.

i agree. i commend his composure after the guy tried to slam him and was able to land his triangle so text book. after he got picked up, he brought his hand out and put his hand on the guys leg, then got into position after the slam. it's like he wasnt worried about it at all...

Yeah Charles is part of the Gold Team Fighters camp. He trains w/ Macaco Patino here in Houston. I've done my research but, that's where I'm also training at. Dude has sick jiu jitsu skills though! Very composed for his 1st UFC bout and dude is young too.
