Charles Oliveira is the LW Maia, and has been streaking lately

Better subs than Maia, but Charles gets outgrappled sometimes.

Maia has spent the majority of his career fighting top 15 opponents. Do Bronx has spentvthe majority of his career fighting top 30 guys and then losing once he takes the step up in comp. It's easier to submit non ranked guys.

Oliveira has been submitted a lot unlike Maia.

Not at all, Charles always chokes against top 10 fighters.

Bingo —- he looks to find ways to get out of
Fights

Horrible comparison — only things similar is that they’re both Brazilians and have good subs

Ground games nothing a like
Maia is extremely technical Grinder style who remains patient and looks for openings and mainly relies on simple technical subs

Olivera much more of a risk taker that looks for subs all the time including unconventional ones — because of that he’s been subbed himself 3 times in the ufc

4/5 since going back to LW and all submissions. He is now back in the top 15 and I think he is a dark horse and he could very well be able to submit anyone in that division.

Don't sleep on him, I think he has path to title contention with another win or two. He has been looking sharp.

Oliveira is to Maia like Chris Leben is to Anderson Silva

He's very wild and sometimes it works, but it also gets him into trouble

Always been high on Charles, just think his mental toughness is lacking.

One of my favourite fighters to watch, just not good enough to beat the elite unfortunately.

Still think he lacks durability but perhaps the best subs in MMA history.

Chucky Olives can kickbox though, Maia, not so much.

Maia hasn't been starched on the feet though outside of the quick loss to Marquardt and he at least has good power standing despite his reluctance there. Being able to strike is fine, but Oliveira doesn't react to damage well enough for that to be a resort against the top guys, it makes his survivability low to where he doesn't have enough time to potentially get that sub.

Nate Diaz beats Oliveira.

Who knows, he could have wound up submitting holloway if the fight didn't end so fast with that freak injury.
Charles esophagus became unattached.

How does that even freakin happen?!?!

He's incredible. He also is a little more diverse in terms of submission variety.

He also strikes a whole lot better than Maia.

Love watching the guy fight. Absolutely love his style. At this point, he's one of the most physically impressive 155'ers on the planet, the most dangerous submission grappler in the division, and ready for another shot at the Top 10... the fact that he's pretty much guaranteed to lose to that level iof fighter doesn't mean it shouldn't happen.

How 'bout Vick or Trinaldo? Maybe Dariush or Hernandez? There are a lot of cool matchups to be made for him at this point in time. I just pray Dana never capitulates and lets him try 145 again.
