if you like poetry, and you like Charles Bukowski....

i dont like him at all to be honest, which I always found surprising, apart from one poem I never liked him. If you had to show me one (or two or three) poems in order to convince me, what would they be?

@Bukowski82

Go fuck yourself you uncultured swine. Maybe Emily Plath would be more speed. Read up on her then follow her lead.

You've come to the right place, my Friend! Give me one second... I'm still doing a little celebrating over the Hawks NFC Championship win.

In a little bit, I'll post some stuff and make a believer out of you yet :)

I hope mate, I always thought I would like Bukowski based on what I do like...but then I never did....

The history if one tough motherfucker
he came to the door one night wet thin beaten and
terrorized
a white cross-eyed tailless cat
I took him in and fed him and he stayed
grew to trust me until a friend drove up the driveway
and ran him over
I took what was left to a vet who said,"not much
chance

Shoes
when you're young
a pair of
female
high-heeled shoes
just sitting
alone
in the closet
can fire your
bones;
when you're old
it's just
a pair of shoes
without
anybody
in them
and
just as
well.

Eulogy for a hell of a dame
some dogs who sleep At night
must dream of bones
and I remember your bones
in flesh
and best
in that dark green dress
and those high-heeled bright
black shoes,
you always cursed when you drank,
your hair coming down you
wanted to explode out of
what was holding you:
rotten memories of a
rotten
past, and
you finally got
out
by dying,
leaving me with the
rotten
present;
you've been dead
28 years
yet I remember you
better than any of
the rest;
you were the only one
who understood
the futility of the
arrangement of
life;
all the others were only
displeased with
trivial segments,
carped
nonsensically about
nonsense;
Jane, you were
killed by
knowing too much.
here's a drink
to your bones
that
this dog
still
dreams about.

His collection, "you get so alone at times that it just makes sense" is a great place to start

it might be, but I dont like paying for a collection I might not enjoy. I prefer to check online first...in most cases.

Keep drinking. Start listening to tom waits. Forgo the early stuff and jump into the album "small change"

It'll all start to click

See...again, tom waits.....another guy that based on my habits and what I like I think I should like, but I never have. But then I have only listened to a couple ofsongs, what songs would you suggest?
