Like any other sport that evolves, MMA is in some need of changes. Basketball, for example, instituted the shot clock, added the 3pt line, and elimanted hand-checking to boost scoring. MMA could a use a little more excitement as well. After giving a lot of thought to it, here's what I came up with: -Eliminate elbows on the ground. All it really does is cause bad cuts and nobody wants to see a good fight stopped on a cut. This means the fighter on top would have to throw punches instead of short elbows thus allowing the fighter on the bottom to attempt more subs. And who doesnt like a good sub finish. -Knees and kicks to grounded opponents (with a catch). On the feet, as long as a fighter doesnt have a knee or both on the ground, he cant be kicked or kneed. If his/her feet are planted, its fair game. No hand on the ground rule for protection. Now, if both fighters are on the ground, knees and kicks are allowed. Meaning a guy on his back can throw an upkick and a guy in a front face lock can be kneed. PS: Not for the purposes of entertainment, but front kicks to the knee should be banned outta safety for fighters. While it may not cause an injury at the time of the fight, it could weaken it to the point where a fighter can injure later, like during a camp.
