This is a better fight then Hendricks vs. Lawler III. No one wants to see Lawler vs. Hendricks III so soon. If Diaz somehow beats Anderson he should fight Lawler for the belt. The money is in the rematch. Diaz KO'd Lawler on their fight and they can hype the hell out of this fight.

If Diaz performs well against Anderson, even if he loses, watch Hendricks get mysteriously "injured" so he can't fight Lawler and potentially take the belt back. And then Dana will set up Lawler vs. Diaz II.

Either way, Lawler vs. Diaz II could be a great fight and a money maker.

I think they should've waited before announcing the rematch. But I think the UFC is betting against Diaz winning.

There is absolutely no mma fan of any demographic to my knowledge that wants Hendricks vs Lawler 3 right now.

and obviously I'd love to see Diaz Lawler II for the title or no title don't care. I'll never be content as a fan of mma without seeing that rematch actually.

i agree. if diaz can put on a great performance against anderson, even in defeat he should be ranked very high in the WW division.

he could be a late injury replacement, but if there's no injury, he is still just one win away from a title shot. i would love to see how today's lawler performs against diaz.

even if diaz gets destroyed by anderson, he's still a top 10 WW who can jump the line with one or two impressive wins.

that is, if he continues to fight.

    NOBODY wants Hendricks Lawler 3

Rory deserves a shot first, but the UFC lives money and Diaz/Lawler would sell.

If Diaz loses he's definitely at least 2 fights away from a WW title shot and yeah, he might not want to keep fighting. Guy really, really hates what he does for a living lol.

Do it regardless. Diaz losing to Anderson Silva takes nothing away from him. In fact, just stepping up to the plate and fighting Silva elevates him in my opinion.

This. Both fights were boring. I don't want to see it a third time unless Johnny goes through the ranks again and earns it. And even then I probably won't watch. Because I know Johnny puts on a snoozefest.

With all the talk a out McGregor needing to prove himself against wrestlers, why does no one say the same about Diaz? He basically retired from the sport 4 times because he didn't want to face them. He has bitched about not wanting to fight them for the majority of his career.

Unproven veteran still hasn't passed the test after all these years. He doesn't deserve a title shot.

I agree that losing to Silva takes nothing away, however I disagree and say that there are far more valid and relevant contenders in the WW division that should be fighting for that belt. Diaz has literally zero reason to be in the discussion other than we, his fans wanting to see Diaz vs Lawler 2.

A win over Anderson at least gives him ... a win. His first since February, 2012. Him stepping up to fight Silva doesn't legitimise anything other than he was offered a big fuckin' payday and took it. I think most any fighter in Nick's shoes would jump at that opportunity.

Even though Diaz and the WW title shot shouldn't be in the same sentence right now

Diaz doesn't deserve the fight he currently has booked, let alone another gift title shot.
