Is Tj the first champ to come from tuf since Matt serra? Matt serra was season four and what season is it now? 247? and Tj was 16? Correct me if im wrong on any facts But thats a pretty fun fact that it has taken that amount of time to produce a champion from tuf
Idk why people expect TUF to create so many champions. You guys do realize that it's actually quite difficult to become a champion? You can be an elite fighter and never hold the belt.
It's gotta be consistently hard to get real good talent on TUF. If fighters are good enough, chances are they've already been signed.. But, There will be another champ from that specific batch, I still believe Dodson will come back and beat Mighty Mouse
The point of the show is to develop talent for the weight classes by senior UFC fighters and champions. Nowhere does it say the show is supposed to create champions. However, we've had Forrest Griffin, Matt Serra, Rashad Evans, and a slew of other top tier talent come from the show. I think that in itself justifies its reason.
right now it's:- s1 - Forrest - won show early 2005 and won title in mid 2008 s2 - Rashad - won show late 2005 and won title in late 2008 s4 - Serra - won show late 2006 and won title early 2007 s14 - Dillashaw - finals of TUF late 2011 and won title early 2014 plenty of title contenders to go along with it: Florian, Sanchez, Koscheck, Diaz, Maynard, Matt Brown, Bader, Dodson most of the guys are journeymen and gate keepers, plenty are cans. But as far as picking good fighters, they do a decent job, w/ more emphasis on personalities than top prospects the last few years - it is a reality tv show after all.
