So, I know Chael has talked alot of trash about alot of fighters, but tonite he was being respectful of Fedor...is anyone aware, of off the record, how Chael REALY feels about Fedor? I mean, I'm sure there's some respect but has he ever really said anything good about him?

I really fucking hope Fedor can get the win vs Mir.

Chael Sonnen vs Fedor Emelianenko is the fight we've deserved for the last 8 years.

Chaels honestly a very respectful articulate guy, even when he is upset with a fighter “not promoting a fight” he still respects their abilities and heart

Over the years I went from not liking Sonnen to loving him. He’s just an actor. He’s more full of shit than Dana believe it or not but at least he’s an entertainer. That’s all he’s ever been. He was never even a B level fighter imo because he tested positive 3 times during the prime of his career not to mention he was on trt as well. Even when he says something that hits home and sounds true and humble, he’s just trying to entertain. When he beat Shogun he said ‘Shogun won’t say it but I’ll say it for him, I got lucky’. So many people thought he was being humble and respectful yet he was only saying that to win the big fan base of Shogun. Even with Wanderlei running from the test, he said on the Rogan podcast that Wand never told his side and what really happened was usada showed up with no id and wanted to see wand’s dick piss in a cup and Wand said fuck that. That’s all bs. Sonnen is just an entertainer, a great one, and he knows how to work people at the right time. He always knows exactly what to say. Trash Brazil, then go a different route later. He knows what’s up when it comes to money. That’s how he got the fight with Jon Jones. So many other examples of the bs he’s pulled but you have to respect in a way of where he’s coming from.

Chael's a great analyst when he isn't trying to go WWE on everyone. I've always said that about him.

Well now that he has a realistic chance of fighting him, of course chael is gonna talk him up as a legend. He’s not dumb. When he beats fedor he can go around saying he beat the goat heavyweight haha.

Thanks for weighing in. I always felt like he was just being a hype machine, I just didn't know if he'd ever actually come out and said it. I like Chael regardless. Entertaining guy.

He’s been extremely critical about Fedor in the past.

I assume he’s more gracious because:
#1 He’s no longer in the UFC and not pushing the White agenda
#2 Knows that Fedor still has a large fanbase in an org he’s now competing in, which will likely help promotion
#3 Wants to steal whatever thunder Fedor has left if they should face off
#4 Or he possibly thinks higher of Fedor than he’s been letting on, because it no longer interferes with the UFC agenda.

He's mentioned that on his podcast several times. Call your opponent a bum and when you win, you just beat a bum. Call him the best and when you win, you beat the best. Sonnen has definitely always understood the business.

He talked shit on Fedor because he talked shit on everyone and also because Fedor tapped out his coach

Pretty much, Chael just says whatever benefits the situation. The dude is a born politician through and through.

Except that when he lost to Tito he said he lost to "the worst fighter alive".

He's actually more honest than most people give him credit for. He's just honest with a flair for the dramatic. Fucking love that guy.

Or now realises he is in a position where he may have to fight him and see what a "bum" he really is

Chael after the bellator press conference with wanderlei told that he met fedor backstage and that he is a nice guy. Maybe that has something to do with it. The guy loves to play the heel pro wrasslin gimmick to sell tickets but he isnt really thrashtalking guys that he actually likes as seen with stann, bisping or shogun.

Sonnen won me as a fan somehow, I went from not liking to not caring to actually admiring him. He’s well spoken and his videos on YouTube are actually quite interesting. And I think he’s going to win vs Fedor. Not that I want that but I feel he’ll just dominate Fedor on the ground. But first Fedor needs to face and win against Mir and that won’t be easy.

. He was never even a B level fighter imo because he tested positive 3 times during the prime of his career not to mention he was on trt as well..

So what does that make Josh Barnett, Jon Jones and Vitor? Or all those Pride guys who were never tested at all?

I don't think he's scared of the 2018 version of Fedor. Chael has gotten in a cage with Jon Jones, prime Anderson and other top-level fighters.

I remember some years ago when he was asked about Fedor. It was classic Sonnen. He was like "well, we don't really know a lot about him yet. He's only 2-3"

He was of course referring only to Fedor's US fights, where the ref isn't wearing an earpiece and the promoter isn't in back telling you when to go down.

Chael P bless

That’s a bunch of baloney.

I remember when most of Sherdog was calling him a sociopath, because he was caught so many times lying and trying to push some sort of agenda.

He’s respectful of Fedor this week, because he’s a potential opponent in his tournament. In the past, I’ve heard him refer to Emelianenko as a complete farce.

Honestly, I don’t think he even knows what the truth is anymore. To him, the truth represents anything that keeps him relevant in the public eye.
