I had predicted Chael to win, but I expected it to be entirely via grappling. I was sure that if he didn't do his usual and take Rampage down right away, he'd lose. But in round one, Chael actually outstruck Rampage. Rampage was too slow. Chael even threw a high kick and a flying knee. I was very shocked by that first round.

I kinda thought the same thing, but we really shouldn't be that surprised. He out struck Anderson a few times in their first fight. Chael's striking is underrated a bit.

Very disappointing fight for me as a huge fan Rampage looked slower than I ever thought no attemts to sweep content to lay on his back I have no doubt Mir /Fedor finishes Sonnen

At this point, I think the Fedor matchup may look similar to this Rampage fight. But I think Mir finishes Sonnen easy.

It's too bad he doesn't have any power. Rounds 1 and 2 he outboxed rampage. That's definitely impressive.

We haven't seen much recently but I'm sure Fedor still has the submissions to deal w Cheal plus he' gotta be a Lil faster Rampage looked straight slow as fuck tonight

Probably but even though Mir has amazing BJJ he really doesn't have much in the way of takedowns and wrestling. Alot of his submissions are a result of someone knocking him down with a punch and him grabbing a limb for dear life. Chael may be able to take him down and stay on top.

Rampage was just there for the paycheck, has been for awhile now. I doubt he is hardly even training, maybe spending a couple hours every other day at most

What's surprising about it? Chael has a very strong wrestling base and Rampage throws punches like he's under water these days.

Being out of shape is usually the first sign of not training or caring.

Like him or not Chael has always been a competitor and Rampage has been phoning it in for years now.

I think Mir or Fedor is a bad match up for Chael but I'm still interested in seeing it.

True, although I see the potential of Chael playing it more safe and trying to use his speed advantage on the feet and box with him a bit.

It was more the fact that Chael chose to strike with him. Every Chael fight usually starts the same way, and that's with Chael walking straight forwards and clinching or shooting a double leg. That didn't happen this time.

I sadly think you are right dude should move on to acting one of the few fighters with the charisma still a huge Rampage fan

Hampage at 253 pounds is one dimensional and on a swivel throwing hooks. Chael outworked him on the feet knowing he could mix in takedowns if he started getting clipped.

Sonnen better hope Mir loses though, Mir will want to be on the ground with him and Chael's submission defense will probably be less than stellar against a submission specialist 2 weight classes up.

Many here thought Rampage would Knock Chael out.

That's why they fight the fights.

3 or 4 years ago Rampage couldn't stop the most half assed takedown ever against Glover Teixeira. He isn't getting any younger

And soon after, it was SPIDER who was the one who "tested positive" so he's no fucking saint either.

Sonnen tested positive 3 times not to mention he was on TRT, and now he's not on TRT and still fighting. That's 4 strikes. So don't give me this shit about like him or not. Wtf this shit from you guys is blowing my mind.

Sonnen tested positive after that exact fight. Anderson didn't. That's proof that Sonnen's great fight with Anderson(which he still lost) was complete garbage.
