Chael Sonnen is arguably the WORST matchup for Vitor for anyone under 205.

Obviously, the best guys at 205 are better than Chael but purely from a stylistic POV, Sonnen is poison for Belfort.

Fascinating fight

Vitor is bat shit insane. He's on a mission. He's going to chew someone's arm off eventually. He might kick someone's head into the third row. Literally.

Chael could wrestle-fuck him. He could not. There is a chance.

But there is also a bigger chance that Vitor punts his dome like a Goodell signed football.

Sonnen has to fight a flawless fight to win, and he has a history of fucking those up. Vitor's a strong guy with some good TDD, has good subs, his guard is hard to pass, and he needs one opening on the feet to change the outcome.

Chael candidly describes his opponents, Vitor steadily gets his praise, probably for the reason that he recognizes that it's a tough one for him.

Sonnen will likely get the decision if he manages to not get finished. That top control scoring.

Is it 5 rounds? That's a long time to avoid getting Jesus-Punched to the face, and Vitor has submissions as well.

Chael has the tools to UD Vitor, but Vitor has the tools to KO anyone.

Vitor gets his praise, but he's also actively pursued this fight since he beat Marquardt. Belfort's a tough fight because he's a spectacular fighter, but not really because of his skills.

This isn't a Rashad/Cormier situation where he's taking this fight to prove he'll fight anyone. He's wanted this for a long time.

Vitor isn't afraid to throw subs off his back, Chael has been triangled or armbarred what like 8 times?

Keep in mind that just because Sonnen has skills that could create problems for Belfort doesn't mean than Belfort doesn't also possess at least as many tools to threaten Sonnen. It's not like it's heavily lopsided in Sonnen's favor. He could get KTFO unless he has a really good strategy and sticks to it the entire fight without a mistake. He can't give Vitor any window of opportunity, which is a daunting task considering how explosive he is. Vitor doesn't need a lot of time to put you in the fetal position counting stars.

chael fold mentally when he is not in control of the fight. 1 or 2 combos from vitor and chael is going to beat himself psychologically.

Weidman is better at everything than Sonnen, so I'd have to disagree.

Part of me hopes that Chael finds a way to beat Vitor because I want to see how comically one sided Weidman vs. Sonnen would be.

the chris is definately the worst.but this fight is there to take for sonnen.hes not ducking vitor bro

Vitor is his own worst enemy. Lets just hope he lays off the "Holy Spirit" enough to get licensed for this fight.

untill chael gets headkicked..... maybe, he might well be!
