Fair enough points by the West Linn Gangsta.

Doom is arguably one of the all time best MMA heavyweights to ever grace the cage. INSANE jitz for a huge guy, and not too shabby of a striking arsenal either.

Guy gives ZERO fux. Will throw caution completely to the wind at times, and just go all out, to get the finish.

BUT, as we have seen, now and again, it can cost him.

Will it happen at UFC Fight Night 127?

Werdum isn't "reckless", his STRIKING can be "reckless" since he gives ZERO fucks about being taken down; and rightfully so. It's bitten him on the ass a couple of times but since being ko'd by Stipe, his "striking recklessness" seems to have subsided.

He always states the obvious or says something retarded. I don't know why I was expecting anything different from the norm.

I can't stand Chael.
He's just trying to stay relevant.

I think he can be pretty wreckless striking wise, partly as you say because he doesn't worry at all about being taken down but technically standing I think its true that recent Werdum is far better offencively than defensively. Most obviously his defensive boxing has if anything gotten worse not better since his Pride days training with Crocop.

The ref is far more reckless.
Tagged, faceplant, and he finally shows up on the 3rd punch thrown at an unconscious man.

Soccer kicks. We need to give these refs more tools to do their jobs.

Recklessness can wreck one, you reckon?

i think it's also gotten worse because he's more confident in his striking, so he'll stay in the pocket longer and he'll trade with people. he used to not do that at all. he'd attack, but once they'd attack back he'd shoot an ugly takedown or pull guard. now a days, he won't even attempt to grapple with guys like vs Cain, Stipe, and Travis Browne.

but he also lost to Overeem when he could've probably won had he not taken him down and just kept it standing since he had hurt Overeem.

I think its partly training environment, working with Crocop's team he seemed much more defensively focused plus of course he was younger and quicker and pushed the threat of takedowns a lot more than kept opponents from exchanging with him freely.

I don't think todays Werdum would beat the versions of Nog and Sergei he fought in Pride.

"There's a young fireman out of Cleveland...if you're telling me he can beat Stipe, then you're telling me he can beat Werdum and he can shut off JDS."

So in other words, he's pretty reckless?
