Many people claim chael sonnen is easy to submmit because of his bad sub defense but in the other hand everyone also claims his top control is amazing and he was going to control anderson for 5 rounds and jones ducked him.

Brian Stann said on camera you can train with all the guys in the gym (Jon Jones trains with Stann) but he says having chael on top of you is a whole different world.

So whats going on here guys?

Sonnen improved his sub defense. Before he would be recklessly throw punches against his opponents. Now he is more calm when throwing punches and is looking to advance position and go for subs.

He was notorious for bad submission defense but now his defense is really good.

But you need a rubber neck to avoid the chokes of Jones. I see Sonnen losing via submission after getting hellbowed. No shame in getting subbed by jones

Sonnen wins via DQ
He'll make it happen, folks

Lmao you know it's bad when the guy with the "I believe in Chael Sonnen" sig and av has thrown in the towel months in advance.

Jon Jones cleanly knocks him out in the first round. Does the same thing to JDS later in the year.

Here's one logical way where everything you said could be true: Chael is very good at keeping guys on the ground and landing a lot of strikes while they're down, but he isn't elite at avoiding or escaping submissions.

TS think JJ ducked Sonnen...

So not wanting to fight someone who bypass a whole division is ducking by you?

This^ Jones wanted nothing to do with a clown who jestered his way into a match. Dana made the money right for TUF,and this coming match so Jones agreed. I still think it's a joke but it's on Jones' terms now and he gets paid, big time. People keep acting like Sonnen is the only savvy one without giving Jones his credit too.

I thought Chael's situation is pretty clear. He has very good top control, but his submission offense is mediocre and he is prone to mental lapses when he fights.

Beatdon Genus would submmit the fuck out of Sonnen.

If something happened to Cain, JDS would fight any LHW on the roster to keep 155 alive (including chicken bones).

The only people who've submitted him in the last, like, 8 years are either high-level submission specialists (Jeremy Horn, Babalu, Maia, Filho) or were dominated by him for the vast majority of the fight (Anderson). Seriously, his submission defense is way better than people give it credit for; getting submitted by Maia and Babalu and a prime Filho isn't something he should be ashamed of.

He's also improved his top game, and that's the main thing. He takes much more care in his grappling positions than he used to.

You wouldn't call Jones a submission specialist? He has
most sub wins in lhw history.

Hey, Sonnen is moving up in weight, he's got a lot of disadvantages going against him and is a giant question mark in the LHW division. We haven't seen Jones on his back and Jones has shown little weakness.

Logical choice is to pick Jones to win.

Nobody can be confident in Sonnen other than Sonnen himself, and people who know him personally.

I will be rooting for Sonnen, hope he proves he belongs in the cage and validates his title shot.

I will be praying for a Randy Couture/Tim Sylvia type result  That would be awesome

Getting an event canceled because you won't fight a guy from a lower weight division is.

Maybe setting up a whole card that is reliant on one fight isn't such a good idea?

I find it funny how you say that but I am willing to bet that you don't even know JDS personally.
