In the interview with Le Batard this week Chael finally revealed some numbers. 8 million for the second Anderson fight (biggest pay in UFC) and looking to make 10 million out of the Jones fight. Lots of people were wondering how he only made so little in the Silva fight (like under 100k), but that was the official number.

Some kids don't understand that the official pay means absolutely nothing. Also, if you do not understand WHY Chael makes more than guys who are arguably better fighters than he is, you just need to watch the interview, or use your head. It is a business after all, and you are successful if you put asses in the seats and PPV orders in the bank. Chael is the most polarizing figure, everyone has an opinion of him and mostly it's pure love or pure hate. And everyone wants to see his fight for one of these reasons. They either want to see him demolished, or they want to see him win and deliver some more epicness.

this is a real American success story IMO. just a few years ago Chael was focused on fraud just to make, like, $70K (and I think that was gross). Now look at him!!!

that aside, I don't like the WWE stuff but I don't see why anyone should be upset about a fighter getting paid. if the fans want WWE, then the guys offering that product should be getting $$$

Because chael says he made 8 million that means it's true? You really believe Chael made more in that fight than the champion with the record for most title defenses?

If you don't understand that Chael rarely tells the truth in TV interviews than you just need to watch the part of the interview where he calls himself the highest paid athlete in the UFC... or use your head.

It wouldn't surprise me, Brock probably made more money than any dominant champion.

LMAO GSP once said he makes 4-5 mil a fight..

Sonnen at 10 million huh?

Sure...

Surely Chael makes more than his reported pay; however, he obviously isn't the highest paid athlete in UFC history.

Rumor is, that every single round he had never lost during his streak increased his pay by 2000$, so it's not surprising.

When your the greatest fighter in the world they call you Chael P. Sonnen. Undefeated, undisputed, and reigning mw (soon to be lhw included) UFC champion of the world.

Because if Chael said it....

No, because it's absolutely logical and some people do not understand this. I'm not surprised you (or Le Batard) don't though.

A firefighter saves lives, a scientist can make a breakthrough that benefits the whole human race. They get paid less in their lifetime than say Brad Pitt does in a few weeks of smiling to the camera.

Chael makes the money, because he is the UFC's biggest draw. Why is he the biggest draw? Because he is the most polarizing figure, and easily gets the most PR time. People will tune in to see him get beat, people will tune in to see him win. Nobody gives a shit if Jon Jones beats Vitor Belfort. A few Jones fans buy a card like that. When he is fighting Chael, all of a sudden 100k more buy the card just to see Jones beat Chael. And then there is the ever growing crowd of people who want to see Chael win.

Yes, he deserves it. He is the main draw, he is making the sport bigger and making the promotion most money, so he earns more than those who don't.

It's not about who is the best at fighting. I wish people like you would realize this so we would not have stupid denial like this.

100% of things that Chael says is true.

Not really though
