I think DC tried to mislead Stipe into thinking that he is going in slimmer and ready for a 5-rounder, while at the same time he was planning to come in heavy and try to knock him out again. DC was looking for the KO, that's one of the reasons he was so tired by the fourth round.

Well, at least that's the only logical reason I can think of. Because cutting 10 pounds in HW when you are well beyond the limit doesn't make any sense at all.
