good fight. Shame they didn't make Edgar vs Mendes.
But i guess they had to wait to see what happens Sunday. I wonder who he could fight now. Nobody is left.
Exactly what I wanted to see.
It would undoubtedly be for the true #1 contenders fight.
A fight to determine the two best in the division.
Edgar dismantled Cub Swansons streak; which in my opinion,
is more impressive and definitive than Bermudez' streak that
Lamas broke (which was also impressive)
Considering that win-since the BJ fight doesn't say much about
Edgar's standing in the division- as well as the performance
Mendes put against Aldo in their fight... matching the champ for skill
and determination throughout the fight, even more impressive than
Edgar's crack at Aldo.... that fight just absolutely makes sense.
One of the only true times that I have the slightest hope for a bit
of a mix up before these fights fall through.
With that; this is a great fight (Mendes/Lamas)
Lamas looked stellar against Bermudez.
But Hacran proved to be a tough fight for him.
I use that as a gauge for potential of performance against high
level competitors. & Because of that, I see Mendes pulling this
off. Most likely a decision, but I wouldn't be surprised if we saw
a guillotine or something on a desperate takedown. Mendes is
going to do exactly what Benavidez is doing at 125 & what
Urijah is doing at 135... just knocking down the top dogs of their
weight class systematically until they undeniably get a title shot again.
I love seeing it, personally
Here's to hoping for a Cisco rematch!!
