Frankie is coming off a win and had a title shot a month earlier. Chad hasn't fought in 2 years and lost 3 of his last 4. One of those a 1st round ko loss to edgar, so how does Chad deserve that fight? Seriously.

Mendes is out of the ranks and has to prove how he does without his magical cream. No way he deserves Edgar right away.
 
Nothing for Frankie to gain in this fight. Knocked him out in the first round while Mendes was top ranked AND on the juice...

A win against Chad at this time does nothing for Frankie.

So if Ortega beats max you think Edgar should get a rematch despite losing as easily to Ortega as Chad did to him.

Edgar has been on a tear barring the loss and is the clear top contender after Ortega and Max so it makes sense. Especially as he granted Ortega a fight when he could have waited for the title fight.
 
Considering how different the 145 landscape has become since Mendes last participated, the most he should hope for is a fight against someone on the verge of breaking the top ten. He is still capable of making an impact in the division but he should have to prove it to some extent before getting a fight someone on the cusp of a title shot.
 
Mendes WAS great, see if he can hang with Zabit/Yair/Stephens and then we can talk
