Just read that due to Gamburyan withdrawing from his fight with Chad Mendes due to injury, and the UFC unable to find an opponent for Chad, hes been removed from the card completely. Its really ridiculous how the UFC cant match someone that Chad deserves. Cody Mckenzie? Really? That was so dumb. And that other no name after that? Chad is the #2 FW in the world, and the UFC cant even match this guy up with a decent competitor. Dude must be so pissed right now.

Chad Mendes is not allowed to fight any top guys for the time being, because they are afraid he will beat them. They can't give him another title shot right away either because Aldo is still champ.
So they give him some other fights and keep him out of the way, because he could mean big trouble for guys like Lamas, KZ, Cub, Poirier, Siver, and Koch.

The problem with your argument is that you both argue that (a) it's ridiculous that Chad isn't getting consistent top level opponents, and (b) it's ridiculous that they couldn't plug someone in there to fight him on two weeks' notice.

I agree that it was stupid to have him fight Mckenzie, but I don't see how that mistake is in any way connected to his removal from 157 due to injury to his opponent.

Really think the 145 pound division is the least deep division in UFC. Erik Koch and Ricardo Lamas contenders, really? It's Jose Aldo, Mendez, Edgar, few other guys and then that's it. That's why I like the idea of guys moving down from 155 to make the division better. Outside of the top 5 in UFC, even Bellator's featherweight division looks on par at times with UFC's. They really need to look at the entire world, indies, up and comers, and all of these things with guys fighting at 155 as well and make this division better. In order to improve I think that getting more fighters like Jimi Hettes is the way to go right now and encouraging average guys at 155 like Jim Miller or Joe Lauzon to step down to 145.

This makes no sense. One, training injuries within two weeks of the card are inexcusable. Two, the UFC should not have been caught flat-footed again. Even without a fighter on standby, there should be some idea of who can be called up in case of an emergency. They could even use a LW and make it a catchweight bout. There are better options than cancelling/moving the fight.

It just strikes me as strange that the UFC couldn't offer a good fighter enough to take this fight. I hope we learn who turned it down.

Guida/Lamas/Lentz/KZombie/Dias/MikeTBrown
6 fighters that would've been fine to fight him

I was so stoked for this fight...im still pissed. Been a fan of both guys since the WEC. Was gonna be a great scrap. Too bad. Hopefully they reschedule this bout, or give Chad a high level fight with a guy like Edgar (if he stays at 145). Man...that would be such a sick fight. Chad Mendes vs Frankie Edgar. Damn. Wrestling would be completely even, and I would give the power advantage to Chad, but speed and boxing technique to Frankie. That fight needs to happen if Frankie stays at 145.

A bad card got worse!

Bad card? Maybe compared to the hype the last card got, but this in no way is a bad PPV. We get Rousey/Carmouche, Hendo/Machida, Koschek/Lawler, Faber/Menjivar, and probably Schaub/Johnson. The only fight I would predict as being a dud is Koscheck/Lawler if Koschek smartly decides to take Lawler down. The other fights should be entertaining as hell.

Mendes is a guy I will pretty much always watch.. This sucks. I want to see either his rematch with Aldo, or a fight with he and frankie.

It's UFC 151 all over again. Well at least this has Lyoto vs. Hendo. Ronda vs. Liz ends in 1 minute.

Lamas turned it down, Lentz and Guida would probably turn it down due to needing time to weight cut, Zombie is out til July and Brown went on a boating trip with Paul Taylor, Brian Bowles and James Vick.

Wouldn't of been opposed to seeing Nam Fran take the fight but I know he's TAM as well.
