In a few days I'll have my US SSN so I can apply for a CCW licence.

Never shot an actual gun in my life but if I can have one to protect myself and my husband, I want one.

Guess I'd better start thinking about going to gun safety school.

You should play paint ball a lot.

VA has a bunch of well known firearms trainers based out of that area

Get a Glock 19, a raven concealment systems holster, bunch of ammo and take some classes

You should also check out a Hunters Safety Education Course. You many never hunt, but there's lots of great training on how to properly handle firearms and other safety measures.
They're usually free also.

As an adult, assuming you have common sense, just be prepared that much of it is stupid as fuck. I say that having been barely double digits when I went and shit was like "no shit"
