Mine hurt like hell when I got it so I got the shit drained. Just be sure you get it drained before it hardens if you want it gone.

If it's done right there shouldn't be an infection.

Go to the drug store and get some needles, you cant have it drained just once, you have to keep draining it yourself. Probally about every couple of hours for about 3 days. it can hurt pretty bad at first, but you kind of get used to doing it.

My left one is pretty big... not like Saku or Randy Couture big, but there is an abudance of scar tissue build up there for making it a big lump. In my right ear its smoother because when i got it i knew i had to go get it drained right away, thats what you should do get it drain ASAP or else you'll be lumpy like myself.

I had my right blow up about three years ago, i freaked out cause it was pretty big but I iced the hell out of it for about 2 weeks and it went down a lot...then I wore headgear for about two months..but when I took it off my left flaired up and I iced it a lot too but for some reason the fucker wouldnt go down...so you can try ice but if its to late ur gonna be in trouble...my buddie got it right where yours is and he barely has a hole to hear out of in both ears..so if I were you id get it drained fast..i figure you got about a week or two before ur screwed...good luck sleepin haha and if ur doc says no i would get a second opinion! its not that bad

If you drain it, the ear will often collapse too. See the guys who have the folded ears? that's from Draining. If you do nothing it will not go away, either.

What you need to do is compress it. Use Wet cotton balls on the inner part or something that will conform. If you can tape it up to keep it compressed that is best, but very hard to tape up properly. If not, just compress it for 15 minutes or so several times a day and it will go down considerably. it will still harden, but it won't be lumpy.

The ear won't collapse. They shouldn't get infected if it is done with sterile technique. Any "collapse" is due to cartilage necrosis from failing to drain in a timely fashion. This is especially critical if the swelling is noted on both sides of the ear.
