Legit question for my earthquake survivors. What exactly happens when you are in the open? If you are in the open and the ground doesn’t open up, and there’s no danger of having things collapse on you, what’s the danger?

Earthquake because I can build an underground bunker to hide from a hurricane

A lot easier than finding a helicopter to camp in until the earthquake stops

Watching the Japan tsunami take place was life changing. Back when CNN and YouTube were both pretty awesome.

There are a few people I know of that have been hard at work on forecasting these though. Hopefully one day we will be able to.

I don't understand people in Hurricane places. Can't they build real buildings like out of steels and concrete to withstand the high wind and water? Every house that the hurricane blew up were made out of wood.

Earthquake is more dangerous because it's literally Earth shattering. No matter how strong your house is, it can and will crumble. Continents have been moved and destroyed by Earthquake. Hurricane ain't shit in comparison.

Earthquakes are the worst natural disaster next to Astroids from outer space. Nothing on Earth will beat an Earthquake. Not even a godly volcanic eruption that said to have wiped out 90% of earth population.

Pangaea, and another village in Indonesia or somewhere near there was completely wiped off from the maps. It has the ability to destroy and break apart continents. Earthquakes are usually followed by Tsunamis and volcano eruptions. The deadliest Earthquakes are more deadlier than the deadliest Hurricanes. Extinctions happen from Earthquakes but not hurricanes.

The deadliest hurricanes only have death rolls in the low tens of thousands while earthquakes are in the upper hundreds of thousands if not millions.

Continental drift is not earthquakes. Earthquakes don't break apart continents.

In the last 60 years, the greatest death toll from a Earthquake is 300,000, while for a hurricane it's >500,000.

    What extinctions have earthquakes caused?

It most recently happened 10 years ago:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyclone_Nargis

"Nargis was the deadliest tropical cyclone worldwide since the Typhoon Nina in 1975, which killed at least 229,000 people, and the deadliest tropical cyclone in the North Indian Ocean since the 1991 Bangladesh cyclone, which killed at least 138,866 people. One aid worker claimed that the death toll from the cyclone and its aftermath might reach 300,000; if correct, Nargis was the second-deadliest cyclone ever and the fifth-deadliest natural disaster of the 20th century, after the 1931 China floods, the 1887 Yellow River flood, the 1556 Shaanxi earthquake, and the 1970 Bhola cyclone in Bangladesh."

That was quoted from the article. But the idiot who wrote it doesn't realize 1556 is not even close to being in the 20th century.

Lot of my friends lost their homes to Katrina. There's neighborhoods that haven't recovered from that day. @HI SCOTT NEWMAN
