They are both crazy dangerous. That can kill thousand of lives. But I'd say the 9.5 earthquake would be more threatening to your life. What do you guys think?

Btw I used 9.5 magnitude for the Earthquake because that's the highest that's ever been recorded. And they say it's probably not possible to reach a 10 magnitude.

Also this is a scenario where you had no way to escape from the hurricane.

That's true there is no warning with an earthquake. It's spontaneous. But if you had no warning and just got caught up in a hurricane? Would you find it more dangerous in a Hurricane or Earthquake?

Depends. If I'm on the 5th floor of a steel and concrete building, give me the hurricane. If I'm standing out in the middle of an open field, I'll take the earthquake. And vice versa.

Earthquakes by far. You can at least prepare and run and hide from a hurricane. With an Earthquake, it's luck of the draw if you survive or not.

Catastrophic earthquake and it’s not even close. This is coming from someone who has spent virtually their entire life in prime hurricane territory and experienced Andrew first hand

in this situation, i chose earthquake since at that magnitude, buildings would likely fall.
    but
    tsunami > both choices
i'll take my chances dodging falling buildings over a 200 foot wave.

The answer depends on a lot of scenarios. Like, where you are, for instance. Hurricanes aren't very rare on the East Coast and a lot of structures are built with them in mind.

Same for earthquakes on the west coast. I'm more likely to survive a Cat 5 hurricane than a 9.5 earthquake, but could the west coast deal with a Cat 5 hurricane?

are you kidding me? A 9.5 Quake anywhere near Los Angeles would be the most massive natural disaster in World History.

If an earthquake occurs just off the coast, the population close to the quake will feel a quake and get a tsunami. So, they could be one in the same.

I survived a hurricane but with an earthquake, a fat slob is sitting on my chest with his crotch right next to my face
