The former interim UFC welterweight champion and 19-year veteran of professional MMA officially called it a career last week, finishing with a 32-14 record and some of the most memorable fights in history. In addition to big show battles with the likes of Georges St-Pierre, Robbie Lawler, and Nick Diaz, “The Natural Born Killer” was a star in World Extreme Cagefighting and will always be remembered for his star turn in the legendary Rumble on the Rock tournament.

The past few years haven’t been kind to Condit, 37, as far as results go as he closed out his UFC run on a 2-6 stretch. In what would be his last fight, Condit lost a unanimous decision to Max Griffin at UFC 264 in July.

On Monday, Condit appeared on The MMA Hour to elaborate on why the timing was right for him to walk away from competition.

    On why he retired:

On when he knew it was time:

    On preparation taking its toll:

We will miss you fight Condit! A true warrior, and a class act. With some fighters you worry about what they will do next, but Condit clearly has a bright future in anything he does. The left hook against Hardy will be always be a thing of wonder.

Wish you nothing but the best, thank you for the memories!

Hell of a career. All the best to Condit in retirement. Glad he's stopping sooner than later.

Feel free to block me from the thread based on my post if you really want to. I have no problem with it. You've been a mod in the past, use your judgement as you see fit.

GSP vs Condit is my favorite fight of all time. This Primetime ending promo that they had still pumps me up to this day, and I still kept coming back to this several times a year for the last 8 years. The part where Carlos spars in the freezing mountains just gives off Rocky vibes and is pretty epic. And honestly, there's a point in time where I've lived my life with this quote that he said.

"I made a career proving doubters wrong. I thrive under pressure. I shine when it matters... I'm ready to go. I'm saying over and over I'm ready to f***ing go."

Thank you for the memories, Carlos! Enjoy your retirement and congrats for a hell of a career!
It's an honor to have witness all the great fights during your era.

One of the first fights I’ve saw at 7 years old, was him against Ellenberger. He’ll be a huge part of my childhood.
