Its probably caused by either your browser settings or security software on you comp. If it was a problem with the site it would affect everyone.
Try disabling of altering any security software you have (nortons,zonealarm,Mcafee, etc)
When i was running zonealarm i couldnt see animated gifs.
If that doesnt help try downloading a different browser, i suggest either Firefox or Opera (Opera has more features but Firefox is easier to use)
