Multiple sources have informed BoxingScene.com that Golden Boy Promotions and Lou DiBella, Derevyanchenko’s promoter, are negotiating for Alvarez to make a mandatory defense of his IBF middleweight title versus Derevyanchenko either in October or November. Alvarez announced Wednesday that he would not fight September 14 because he and Golden Boy Promotions needed more time to put together a deal for him to face a top opponent.

Lol. So distract fans with heroic talk about fighting Kovelev so you can duck a GGG fight until he's even older, sneakily pushing back your fight date and fighting this guy instead. WAF from Canelo.

This is probably good news for everyone. Canelo gets an easy payday. GGG probably gets another one, too. And the fans get to see the p4p #1 once more this year.

Kovalev has a fight lined up right now you clown.

I wonder how the folks at DAZN will take this. I’m sure this fight is the last thing they want to stream, but a superstar who’s been stripped of his titles is useless to them, so they might have to get used to it.

Dude. This is TidWell material.

How so. Canelo shows no interest in rematching GGG. He showed no interest in fighting him initially, dumping the belts in the trash instead of fighting GGG. Then when GGG looked beatable, Canelo was ready. Then after a fight most people thought GGG won, Canelo juiced and got to wait until GGG was even older. Now this. He's clearly been stalling each an every step of this natural trilogy.

You don’t duck a guy you already fought twice and did not lose to. It hardly makes any sense.

Fighting the mandatory challenger. I like this.
People will complain no matter what. If canelo fought GGG again then they'll say canelo is ducking the mandatory challenger. Derevy is no push over.

He didn't when the rumors started you joker. They lowballed Kovalev.
And yet magically it was “were in serious negotiations” from both sides with both sides expecting a deal to be done.

A few things though. First, Canelo isnt doing anything in those negotiations. Second, lol @ “hes ducking someone hes fought twice now”. Third, this is yet another high quality fight from Canelo. Furthering his resume which no one even sniffs as it stands.

You just want something to bitch about.

It’ll be interesting if DAZN approves it. Even if Canelo gets stripped it doesn’t matter, a fight with GGG doesn’t need a title on and Canelo would still have another belt. Plus they can use that fake belt he was given not long ago

Canelo is sticking it to Golovkin taking this fight. Golovkin was supposed to fight Deryevchenko for a vacant title. Now he has nothing.

I suppose after he beats Derevyanchenko, which he should do rather easily, he can unify the WBA belts against Murata. DAZN would probably go for that because apparently the service is huge in Japan. GGG could be waiting quite a long while for his rematch. The silver lining of course is that he can make tens of millions staying sharp against guys like Steve rolls.

First of all LOL at Stuff Jones.

Second of all, fighting a solid mandatory after decisively beating Jacobs is not a bad move at all. He holds the crown, defend it. Prestige doesn't just come to the title, you gotta defend it. GGG should do better than the Steve Rolls of the world if he wants his shot back in the ring with the name in boxing.

Why ever talk the 3rd GGG fight?

What's its prove or whys it warranted?
