Box rec lists love at 6'0. Benavidez was just as tall as Dirrell who is 6-2. Love is way taller than floyd in that pic in boxing shoes. btw benavidez had no shoes in that photo with love who had shoes. gg yet again.

It was a SD but wide in Davids favor. Nice try.

Don’t you think it’s incredible that most people think nobody Canelo fights can beat him? He just beat the best at 168, there's literally one guy there left he could fight, and they’re all bigger than him.

You see greatness because what Canelo is doing is great. He beats a guy at Cruiser, that’s mental.

I know. I was agreeing with you.
I don’t care if anyone yells at me. I’m right. We’re witnessing greatness.

If what Canelo was attempting was so easy, why doesn’t anyone else do it? I don’t care if Makabu is the weakest titlist. He is a top 5 CW, and is way, way bigger than Canelo. If Canelo beats him, it’s hugely impressive. Period.

For me the complaints come because people aren't stupid, they can see through PR and attempts to manipulate them. If you put money down on a Lamborghini V10 but got delivered an electric Porsche you'd be rightfully disappointed because it's not what you were sold even though it is technically a premium sportscar. So when they tell us Canelo is going to become a CW Champion but then we find he is fighting the weakest CW Champion at a lower manufactured catchweight people will naturally show their displeasure at the attempt to con them. But yeah it's still impressive that he can beat a naturally much bigger man, even if that man will be weight drained. But imagine if he announced he was fighting Breidis at the proper 200 limit instead?

Yes, Breidis would be even more impressive. No, that doesn’t diminish this from being a monumental achievement if Canelo does it.

Less than 3 years ago there were plenty of folks saying Smith was too big for Canelo. Today it was a foregone conclusion that he would beat all the SMW guys, and he really ought to be testing himself against the best at 175, and why won’t he fight someone who actually has a real chance to beat him…? On and on it goes.

Meanwhile, even though he may not be fighting the absolute best at 175 or 200, he’s busy doing what no one else his size is even dreaming of trying.

It will be a great achievement but I can't stand salesman BS, him becoming a 5 weight Champion is just a sales pitch, it's more like 4 weight +1. I just hope he eventually fights Bivol or Beterbiev but I could see him retiring after this fight.

Can’t say I really disagree with that. Out of curiosity though, do you consider RJJ a true HW champion for beating Ruiz?

That's like saying Manny is a 7 weight champ +1 because he only beat David Diaz at lightweight and not Nate Campbell or JMM. Although I suppose there's a couple people around here that would claim Manny ducked Nate due to his slickness.

RJJ was pretty similar to Canelo but yeah he was a legit HW Champ. Cherry-picking the weakest HW Champ, but it's more impressive to me because he fought at HW proper with some 30lb weight disadvantage, he's not trying to weight drain his opponent to fight at a lower manufactured weight.

Diaz was at LW though not some made-up weight just for Pacquiao. The WBC are changing the weight class for Canelo. And Diaz was a proper LW who always competed at that weight, Makabu will be weight drained down to 190, who knows how that is going to affect him?

If that’s the case then why bother fighting a CW when your not prepared to let the champion make the weight limit. It’s bollocks

I agree. It's just PR, so they can proclaim him as a 5 weight Champion. The WBC are conveniently moving the goal posts for him.

No but only because the WBC are moving the weight limit down to 190.
