Up in the progressive north they have a 'Support for Black Canadian Communities Initiative'. The government however is rejecting people based on the premise that some of the organizations unfortunately just do not have enough melanin.

The funny part is that the organizations simply needs more leaders who 'self-identify as black'... You can simply 'self-identify' as black now, according to Canada: https://www.canada.ca/en/employment...ces/funding/supporting-black-communities.html

Ok. So are we supposed be outraged now?
Just how arbitrarily racist the progressive government can be. How do you judge whether someone is black or not? What qualifies someone as black? Are Indians black? South East Asians, are they black? Are South Americans black? Is it a skin tone (because I know plenty of people who are white but darker than some other people who are black).

It’s a strange one. The requirement is indeed for self-identification as black, but there is then clearly some kind of vetting process going on, either by individual or committee, which of course immediately blew it by not actually being familiar with the groups it was (somehow) judging, but was then immediately walked back.

My first thought as to how this could actually work was that one might have to submit a list of board/important members upon application. Something like:

“President-Joe
Vice President-Joe(B)
Media Relations-Joe(B)
Community Consultant-Joe
Public Relations-Joe(B)”

Anyways, no system of judgement (however it works, it’s completely mysterious) would be defensible, so after affirming there was one, we’ll now pretend there wasn’t but somehow still be able to select which groups to give funding to (regardless of any value of merit or community good).

As I said, it’s both a strange episode, and also a weirdly familiar one with our government, as announcing the reason they make any specific decision and then backtracking in that reason immediately has been the norm. You all should have seen our wildly over-her-head now-minister of “we can’t get rid of you but all our photo op attempts fell through embarrassingly” handled this government’s decision to scrap their campaign promised pillar of voting reform (given reason, “math is hard so ranked ballots will be too much for the public to understand”, immediately followed by thenwise decision to change gears and go with the “any change in how we determine election results will give more power to evil radical groups” approach.)

self-identify as black? lmao. what a clown country.

Determining government benefits based on skin colour? This should really do a lot to bring Canadians together... Going to be great to have a significant number of Canadians losing their shirts able to say "I don't qualify for government help because I'm of the wrong racial background."

You don't combat racism, and racial inequities by employing racism and using race as a prerequisite in determining who qualifies to receive certain funds.
