Can you work in these conditions?

My boss is lazier than myself.

His only critique in my performance review was that I should find a way to have more free time during the clock.. So I'm sherdogging.

i may be one of the few, but i'm okay with this. i'm okay with it because at work you should be working. maybe it depends on the type of job you have. with jobs like working at coffee shops and fast food, that's where something like this really matters. you should generally always be busy since you normally have lines of customers. with office jobs, it's completely different. you could monitor an office worker with a camera, but that won't really show your productivity.

As a young person , kind of to be expected in a sense. At this point I’ve proven my worth in my profession and wouldn’t want to be micromanaged or constantly tracked.

Which is why I quit at an MSP after 3 months. It was all about billable hours and fudging the numbers. People worked 7 hours a day and billed 10 for example.

In a coffee shop? No way I can work in that environment. No problem ordering from there though.

That is why it is best to get a job that doesn't rely on how much you do, but how well you do it. Results-based instead of actions-per-minute crap. The stress is not worth it, though for most young folks that is the only option.
It's called sales.

I worked in warehouses before where you had to line up to report to your boss before you left and he went over your piece count for the shift. Even if you were well over the minimum expected, you could always get better according to that fat tub of shit. That was annoying enough, but this is on a whole new level. I'd rather smash everything there with the AI totaling the damage I did instead of putting up with that nonsense.

What conditions? Analytics determining whether you're working or not? Sure

Although these types of tools are useful, they oftentimes miss the bigger picture.

There are underlying/hidden variables/data associated with a high functioning team.
