at what age would you say it’s to late to start MMA and be able to make it to the Ufc, or at the very least have 1 professional fight, to see what you have in ya?

Has anyone here started training at that age and gone on to have a fight? Even if just 1, curious too see others experiences.

If you are a 125 lbs woman, or a 265 lbs man you might have a tiny chance.

27 isnt old for going pro to try it and see what you got, but having a dream of making it to the UFC might be unrealistic.

Depends on your skill level as of now. Also depends on weight class. The lower the weight, the more age and speed comes into play. Lots of the best guys started in their late 20s, but today most guys have a dozen fights by their mid twenties.

Just depends how fast you can climb the ladder.

Weidman was 4-0 when he got to the UFC and he was 26/27

cm punk traned ufc for like 6 months and became a 40 year old ufc fighter.

Manuwa began training in mixed martial arts in 2007,

Randy made his debut when he was 34, why not?

I would say it’s never too late to start training mma. If you truly love it go for it man, just be sure it’s something that you want to do, don’t half ass anything you have to be all in and above all else just make sure you enjoy it.

Interesting thanks for the informative reply

If you’re a HW with a background in sports (especially if that sport is wrestling), then yes you could potentially make it to the UFC.

If you’re not a HW, the chances are smaller, but if it’s a dream, aim for it. You might not hit the dream, but you probably won’t regret where you do land.

I had dreams of competing in MMA once. I aimed for it and fell dramatically short. Instead, the furtherthest I got was fighting in gym smokers. But you know what, those smokers are still some of my fondest memories.

Right. It’s never to late that’s what I was thinking. At the very least it’s a nice test for oneself to see what your made of, and it won’teave you with that lingering question or thoughts of , “wish I woulda...” and what not

Yes. The barrier of entry to the UFC is nothing these days.

I doubt you could get off the couch at 27 and have a good pro career. If you're in great shape, and I mean coming off an NCAA career, you'd have a chance.

This is just generally speaking and you decide for yourself what is possible in your own life. More extraordinary things have happened than a 27 year old becoming a prize fighter.

Of course you can.

MMA doesn't require you to dribble a basketball, or handle a hockey puck, or kick a soccer ball. It is fighting, and we all have it in us (to an extent).

People learn at different speeds. You may not have any prior grappling experience but on your first day of grappling you may seem reminiscent of a guy who has done it for a couple of weeks. Lets say you starting boxing at the age of 21, and then started kick boxing at the age of 24. Then by the age of 27 you want to also learn wrestling and jui-jitsu so you can compete in MMA. There's absolutely no reason why that can't happen.

Of course, the older you start, the lower your chances of succeeding - that's like with everything - career, school, jobs, etc. But if you want it, you can get it.

I started at 27, I could have had a pro fight. Had over ten amateur fights. Wouldn't have been a very good pro
