Now that yet another supposed Anderson contender (Rashad) has been eliminated?

Face it, there is no one in the UFC right now, and that includes Weidman and GSP, who can beat Silva. Even the those who were calling facetiously for Anderson vs. Overeem have to admit that Silva would probably beat the guy.

I don't care about the "friends" bit, the weight difference, or those who inexplicable claim that the fight "can't happen" (of course it can happen!), Anderson Silva should fight Jon Jones.

Here, watch this TS, because it's about as close as you're ever going to get to seeing them fight:

They want to do this in New York at MSG. I don't know why people don't get this.

plus Jon has a fight in April.

They need to fight now as time is running out.

That would leave time for a rematch and maybe a rubber match.

i think its more time to start discrediting jones

he couldnt even finish rashad, who lost to diet nog - he beat shogun, but not the real shogun - he left machida unconscious, but that doesnt count becuase he was mean and dropped him - he beat rampage but only because of the cheap leg kicks

etc.

Of course not because if he fights Jones he would be ducking Weidman!

I'm not interested in discrediting either one of them. The number 1 and 2 fighters need to fight, at catch weight if that's what will make it happen.

Anderson cannot remain in his prime forever, I feel that the UFC is wasting precious time with him. The man is going to be 38 years old the next time he steps in the cage.

I dont think its going to happen. Silva now has contenders at MW and some of whom are very dangerous in weidman who has the next shot at Anderson and has a good chance of getting the belt.

Rockhold, Vitor, Lombard are also fights on the horizon.

But I think if Silva beats weidman convincingly then I can see Silva fighting jones but if he has problems with weidman, who is a big strong wrestler, then the jones fight may never happen.

This question has to be asked after the weidman fight. Silva himself and his management are not to grand about the prospect of fighting Jones. If Silva has problems with weidman, it may push SIlva's management to buckle down and scratch the fight.

Hendo is going to be 43 soon and is still a top 5 LHW. Anderson has taken a lot less damage and is much better at avoiding it in the fight with solid strike defense. Anderson has 4-5 more years in him if he wants it.

Vitor had more success at LHW in the past and wants to go back. With the abysmal loss Rashad just had, the mediocre performance by Lil Nog, and slowgun, I think Vitor could make the bottom top 10 in LHW if he keeps working at it. Have Vitor fight Shogun and see if he can climb the rankings or throw him in against Phil Davis.

Actually, Jones has even more contenders to deal with than Anderson. You have Machida/Hendo, Gus/Moosy, Phil/whoever the hell his next opponent is, Cormier if he beats Mir, Vitor if he can prove himself worthy, etc. Jones can be booked til 2015 if he doesnt jump to HW before then
