Pair with trunk 'full of KFC' arrested while trying to enter locked-down Auckland, where restaurants remain shut – KION546

What in the fuck is going on in NZ? Is this coming to a city near you soon? "Gang associates" "Trunk full of KFC" "arrested"

Under the nation’s Covid-19 Public Health Response Act, the duo’s risky attempt could result in imprisonment of up to six months, or a fine of up to NZ$4,000 ($2,800).

Auckland will move to Alert Level 3 on Tuesday at 11.59 p.m. local time. Under this level, travel is only allowed for “permitted movement” like commuting to work or school.

New Zealand has reported more than 4,800 confirmed Covid-19 cases, and 27 deaths in a nation of about 5 million, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

What is the end of this madness?

The word "Clown World" gets tossed around too much. It's boring now.

why surprise? it was toilet paper not long ago

Thief's ran into a warehouse in LA and stole 30,000 copies of Michael Jacksons Dangerous CD in 1991 with guns and a forklift.
Sold them on the street 5 days prior to its release since it was probably the most anticipated album in music history. $300,000 is was worth at the time.
Album still went on to sell 32m copies.

KFC? That's like bitch shit.

Not to perpetuate stereotypes about islanders and kfc but yeah...

The nz government is starting to admit defeat in eliminating the outbreak. They've started dropping restrictions despite active cases continuing

I wonder how many more years of lockdowns it will take NZ to realise that Covid is here to stay.

They had 27 deaths out of five million people and are on the strictest lockdown that has ever been enforced. The entire world would be full anarchy if we got hit with a virus that killed 5% of people it infected. Everyone should think about that for a minute. Literal anarchy isn't that far away.

The issue is the current nz government has broken or failed on just about every election promise made so keeping covid out is vital for them. Even so they seem to be slowly admitting defeat

Higher expectations.
They were aiming for zero covid and were well on the way, but their travel arrangement with Australia screwed them over when NSW dropped the ball.
NSW being unable to handle their quarantine and contain outbreaks has essentially condemned the entire region to accepting covid deaths and mass infection as the standard, because full vaccination rates both here and in New Zealand are still less than 50%. At most now it's a delaying action to make sure everyone has at least had the opportunity to get vaccinated.
Still, we aren't using American or European standards for acceptable death rates, and shouldn't have to given the size of the populations and our geography.

People really need to learn how to cook. There's countless youtube video you can follow, so there's no excuses.

I doubt people stuck in hotels have resources to cook a normal meal.
