Can we admit now that Jamahal Hill was never a top 20 talent?

He’s a top 10 talent….hes not great and he’s fought 3 of the best at 205 in a row

the UFC should be embaressed he was ever champion. when hill was champ vadim nemkov held the bellator LHW belt. there is no way anyone could convince me that hill was on the same level as nemkov. at the time hill was champ the ONEfc champ was reinier de ridder. again there is no way hill beats ridder. hill has zero lateral movement, flat footed even before the injury, and zero grappling. rob wilkinson was the PFL 205 champ at the time. had 6 straight TKOs, while slaughtering everyone they put in his path. again zero lateral movement, flat footed hill stands no chance against wilkinson. hill has never been top 10 material. he shouldnt be in the top 5 in the UFC much less top 20 in the world. world wide rankings i can name 20 LHWs that starch him.

dana white pushes his contender series picks to the top. every contender series champ either held a belt at the weakest point in the divisions history or was fed easy fights and gifted decisions on the way to the top. even usman and i love usman. but lets get real here, its the weakest we have ever seen WW. 2x at colby, 2x at masvidal, neither one should have ever gotten the shot. and he beat gilbert burns. the contender series fighters get pushed to make dana look good.

You suffer from "ranking disillusion syndrome" - a common disease where a fan thinks the bar for the division rankings is way higher than it actually is.

Meh, acting like old ass Glover wasn't still the top of the division. He beat Jan for the belt just 14 months prior.
Walker is not good but after losing to Hill he'd finish Cutelaba and Craig to justifiably keep a spot in the rankings.

Not sure what top 20 you're looking at but it aint LHW
I'm sorry brother I made a mistake in my original post I meant top 20 all time at LHW... there are plenty of LHW who never won gold that are much better than Hill

Ah, yeah that makes a lot more sense. Nah, I'm not sure many people would put him in top 20 all time.

Even his single dimension is based on asterisks. People talk about his hands, but it's not like he was some competent boxer. He has power in his hands, length, and throws good straights and hooks, but it's not like he throws good combos or anything

Nah he's top 20, LHW is just a trash division.

His claim to fame was knocking out Walker, Santos, and Glover back to back.

That looks impressive until you realize Walker has been knocked out 6 times, Santos is 1 and 6 since losing to Jones and having his knees destroyed, and Glover was 43 and retired...

He fought his first legit in prime top ten guys and got destroyed....

I honestly don't think he can beat the likes of Krylov, Oezdemir, Ulberg..

I doubt be was ever better than a guy like Ryan Spann.. just in the right place at the right time.
Yeah. But there’s nothing wrong with that. Flash in the pan guys happen all the time

Just watched it.

Both of them fought scared. Pretty awful stuff.

Amazing how far 205 has fallen.

It was the 'main event' for years. War after war after war.

I sometimes wonder if the increased drug testing fucked the division up. It's the only thing I can think of.

It's TRUE injuries definitely affected him. But part of being elite is living and training in a way that keeps him from getting injured or to minimize injury. You can't just push on the gas pedal full throttle all the time and expect your engine not to blow.

The guy has always been insufferable. Whatevs...bye Felicia ✌️

Getting the title disputes your retarded theory.

Neither could Alex without a controversial decision, and Ank couldn't beat him at all. I guess that makes them frauds too, right? RIGHT??

<eyerollstanley>

He got TKOed by a can previously, and he needs a robbery to beat an old Jan coming from two shoulders surgeries ? He's a fraud, Hill would kill him.

Hey Jamahal, how are ya? Did you forgive Khalil yet for putting a striking clinic on you instead of brawling?

Personally I never thought Jamahal Hill was a championship level fighter but not in the top 20? Seems kinda ridiculous. LHW division isn't that deep nor most in the UFC lol

Talent a lot. Discipline and hard work, none. Bullshit, plenty.

205 was never good. It was a myth that it was ever good. You had multiple 40+ year olds with the title. You had tuf noobs with the title. You had glass chinned karate guys coming off getting plooked in pride like chuck with the title. You had glass chinned 1 n a half dimensional kickboxers that your grandma would take down at will with the title. You had bloated middleweights with the title. You had roid n reach bullies with the title getting gift decisions against opponents that went onto getting KOed by everybody includin yur grandma. LHW was always complete dog shit

He got an easy path to the title and avoided both Jiri/Ank at the time. He was a much better fighter before the Achilles injury. Then he had a major knee injury. Prime Hill prob doesn’t ever beat Ank but I think he beats Roundtree tonight.
