Can the fertittas just start a new promotion and rival the UFC?

I don't know if there's a legal stipulation disclosed in the UFC buyout contract, but what else can stop the fertittas from starting a new fight promotion based in Las Vegas. They can lure fighters, commentators, ring girls etc.. With 4 billion dollars.

Anyone else feels this is a possibility in the future?
Holy mother of all face palms!!!!!!

Explain? What's so far fetched son
They sold because they wanted the money and aren't interested in running an MMA promotion anymore. 0% chance they start a new organization. Lorenzo wants to own an NFL team.

They know the UFC isn't getting bigger and more popular anytime soon, All their superstars are slowly fading away. When you take away Lesnar,Rousey,McgregorVanzant,Nortcutt, who else is there to put asses on seats? So what if your the best figher out there(mighty mouse) without the right gimmick it all goes to shit.

Everything.

-They have other jobs.

-They’re older.

-They have more money than anyone could ever spend.

-They’d be competing against the 500 lb gorilla they created.

-Non-compete clauses.

-They own stake in the UFC. They’d be competing against themselves.

They sold because UFC has peaked and has sought interest by huge companies. They still have strong ties with fighters and the business. I wouldn't count them out completely

they wont have time to make another org when they are busy spending 4 billion :D

TS has made a reasonable question. With all the know-how they have, they would be able to build a big MMA org way easier than 99% of managers.

Several replies seem concerned and don't get why the Fertittas would do that after selling the UFC. There are 4 billions reasons.
Again, you show your ignorance. Ofcourse the landscape is different, but if you think the Fertitas can't put something like this together and make it profitable with the current financial backing they have, you're just hilariously uninformed.
And that's exactly what I said. If it can be done once, it can be done again, regardless of circumstances. I see why you have yellow cards though, you can't put together a coherent argument without resorting to OMFGG RETARD OMFG MONGOOLOID.
Non-compete.

They are starting a promotion called youFC, where they choose people in the crowd to fight unsanctioned at Indian casinos. This way they can pay even less than they do for pro-fighters.

I could dig that. You might be on to something.

The UFC themselvez have put clauzez into their contracts when they buy someone out... that state the other person can't open up a competitive business in a certain amount of time.

I wonder if the other orgs like pride, wfa, ifl, etc were included in the deal. It'd be crazy if they or someone they knew started holding fights under one of those promotions that were already formed

I believe they still have a minority interest in the company. I'm sure the contract they signed makes it so that they would be wise not to do this.

Thank you. I came to say this; and this must be the stupidest fucking (non troll) op I've ever seen on Sherdog since I started coming here in 2006.

Like he said, they want in the NFL. Can't own an NFL team and be involved in the fight game due to some kind of rules that have to due with the betting that goes on in fight sports

I doubt it but like in the ring, anything can happen in big business. Absurd, perhaps. Possible, perhaps but doubtful.

There is always a no compete clause in this kind of dea .
