I think I always assumed that since this Kadyrov guy was a Chechen rebel, and since they were rebelling against Russia, .. that this Kadyrov fellow would be an opponent of Putin.
That's why I thought Kadyrov liked hanging out with guys like Werdum, because Werdum beat Russian Fedor.
Then I saw Khabib hanging out with him .. and then Khabib supporting Fedor.
Is Kadyrov pro-Russian?
Is Khabib?
Looking for some perspective.

I think he's Putin's lackey.

From my limited knowledge.

Ramzan Kadyrov is the son of the former president of the Chechen Republic. His dad opposed Russia in the first Chechen War but due to some Islamic political ties, switched sides and allegiance to Russia during the second Chechen war which Russia ended up winning. Putin put his father in charge of the country and he was voted president a few years after that.

After a year or so of being president, and due to his opposition from separatists within the country, he was assassinated at a local football game when he was blown up by a mine. The republic then elected a new president who was in office for 3 years. All the while Ramzan had been named Prime minister of country and was still seen as a staunch Putin supporter. Because of this, Putin dismissed the then current president in around 2007 and put Ramzan in the position and he was accepted as such by the countries parliament.

He is essentially Putin's right hand man at this point.

Yes pro Russia. The Kadyrovs understood that it was good for Chechnya to be pro Russia. Ramzan has his republic all for him as long as he keeps terrorists and rebels under control.
They have a club called Akhmat (also a mma org with the same name) and they always invite top fighters to train. Jones, Gus, Spong etc
