The notion that it helps his grappling is dumb. Any benefits it gives from controlling opponents (only non elite opponents mind you) are completely canceled out by his lack of mobility and poor cardio. Every fight vs a grappler that mattered either didn't hit the ground or Roy has been out grappled in. I hate most things Dana has to say but his frustrations with Roy Nelson are starting to hold true. It doesnt really matter I suppose, he is getting payed and has KO'd enough guys to hold a job. Perhaps he doesn't truly want to put in the work for a true title run, and perhaps even a perfectly trained Roy Nelson wouldn't make it but shit man, it frustrating to watch. Oh and falling in love with that overhand isn't doing him any favors in the long run. You're telling me you can only deliver the power you have with one technique? You honestly have so much confidence with hat technique that you can't fathom it being neutralized vs a quality opponent. Call him a gimmick, a fan favorite, or even lazy, but the guy is wasting his talent. A guy with the grappling striking and chin he has can do better.
