Explain to me how Machida beat Davis? I constantly hear Machida fans claim he was robbed, but i just rewatched the fight yet again, and he literally didnt land anything. That flurry in the first didnt land even 1 clean punch. The kick that opened the combo hit phil in the elbow mostly and had 2 deflected punches barely connecting and the flying knee missed. Until the third that was the only thing he did in the fight. Rounds 1 AND 2 were clearly Phils. Do I believe Davis is the better fighter? Of course not, but he did win that fight and it was obvious. You don't beat Machida in brasil, without legitimately beating him. I don't care what the so called experts say, most of them have never stepped in the ring, and most of them are cross-overs from boxing. Weidman is 3x's the fighter that phil is in every aspect.Weidman will not only beat Machida, but he will end it in devastating fashion. Bring on lombard and jacare, those are the 2 actual fighters who will give Weidman some trouble. Lol@ Machida fan boys and the Machida era, although Machida is no doubt an incredible fighter and has been a top 15 p4p IMO, for quite awhile, he isnt beating Weidman.

if not for davis's takedowns, it looked almost as bad of a fight as shields vs woodley or tito vs nog. seriously i would never watch these 3 fights even if someone paid me in gum

Neither of them really did anything. Phil stole rounds with Takedowns.

What an odd thread to make now.

I don't remember it that clearly, but I was pretty sure Machida would get the W, I was a bit surprised when Buffer announced Davis as the winner.

It isn't an odd thread to make, I constantly hear Machida fans say that he was robbed, even tho it was clear he wasn't. Yes the takedowns stole the round, but isn't that part of the sport?? I mean Machida literally couldnt touch davis for the first two rounds. He did NOTHING.

As far as watching these fights, I am constantly looking to become a better fighter myself and my footwork is so awful, thats where i am working atm, and who better to watch for footwork than someone like machida

they're just pissed that davis can hang on the feet with machida, also machida nuthuggers are some of the worst, davis won.

I was slightly leaning toward Machida, didn't care all that much that Davis won, though.

I don't think Machida will beat Weidman.

Just mad their boy lost in such an uninteresting fashion.

Yes the takedowns stole the round, but isn't that part of the sport??

But but takedowns shouldn't score points!!!!
Its not like they demonstrate effective grappling.......
Its not like it shows a certain amount of octagon control being able to dictate where the fight is happening......

Pfffft it doesn't matter that he didn't "land" any strikes.............he THREW a lot........that's gotta count for something

I remember scoring rounds 1 & 2 to Davis too and I thought it was kinda clear. But hey, Machida is handsome and he is the karateman, you know.

start finding appropriate titles when starting threads?

Man I can't stand Machida but still think he won that fight, I was convinced he'd get the decision and it was in Brazil.

When Davis landed takedowns he was able to mount some Gnp but they came in the last seconds of the rounds. It's his fault for not being able to take him down earlier in the rounds.

Can people please...stop starting threads with stupid titles like "Can people please (dot dot dot)."? Thanks :-)

Appropriate thread titles?? You sir are not very intellectual if you believe this was a bad title. @excel his fault for not getting them earlier?? Nothing but the takedowns happened in the first 2 rounds. He also won, so how is he at fault for anything?? If you think Machida won, I am totally glad you dont judge any fights. Machida did NOTHING the first 2 rounds, he lost because of his inactivity and inability to get anything going in the early stages of the fight. Do people forget the the few strike davis landed on the ground was the same amount machida landed on the feet? It doesnt matter if they were pitter patter punches on the ground, they were scoring punches, same thing with Machida. He landed very weak punches and kicks standing so why are they counted more than the gnp by davis? The takedowsn definitely won the fight. I am a diehard UFC/MMA fan. I may have my couple of fighters i perfer to watch, but I am one of the most unbiased watchers out there. I damn near love every fighter and appreciate what all the fighters do in the cage. While, again i believe Machida to be the better fighter, there is little to no doubt that Davis was the clear cut decision winner.

they both sucked and deserved to lose.

But I did score it to Machida.

Because footwork and elusiveness and COUNTERSTRIKING and KARATEKAKAKAKAKA.

Didn't land anything? That's because he didn't need to. Footwork, baby. Didn't get any takedowns? Didn't need to. Counterstriking, homie! Didn't lock in any subs? DIDN'T NEED TO because FRONT KICK. It's not my fault you're a dumb American wrestling just bleed fan who doesn't appreciate the finer parts of Octagon non-control, dude.

Guys like Machida and Edgar often have fights where you can make a case for either guy, so people always complain
