Currently i train bjj on monday and thursday, boxing on wednesdayand friday and work saturday and sunday.

My job is pretty physical and so i don;t really want to train afterwards so tuesday is really my free day.

I broke my hand a few months ago and feel weaker, and so need a routine that will help me gain strength but is it possible in just 1 day of lifting a week?

Any suggestions would be helpull

thanks

Lifting weights 1 day a week is 100% better than lifting 0 times a week.

Work out early in the morning.

Yes.

Any strength training will leave you better off than no strength training at all. I think the reason a lot of people give up on their lifting or whatever exercise they were attempting is because of the unnecessary focus on doing "the best" routine. It doesn't have to be all or nothing.

If one day a week is all you have, then make the most of that one day. That doesn't mean to just go and do bicep curls and bench. You still need to work your whole body, but that can be done in 45 minutes once a week if that's what your schedule allows.

Yes, you'll get stronger.

Don't bother with bench at all if you've got such limited time.

Concentrate on multi joint exercises - squats, DLs, and the like - and work hard every time you're in the gym.

yea i was thinking, i have bjj monday in the late evening, and i could train in the morning, but i don't know if i would still be able to train properly in the evening.

Any suggestions on what i could maybe do in the morning that will still enable me to train properly in the evening?

I think your math is wrong there, brother. It's actually closer to, um, a million billion.

Actually it isn't, it's the same distance from the correct answer.

ummm I dont want to sound like an ass, but almost everyone in my gym trains weights sometime in the morning/day and does BJJ at night. after a few weeks your body will adjust to the system and you'll actually get much stronger from the "2nd" workouts each night.

also there is the added benefit of training when you are already a little tired. you get the benefit of having to focus on technique because there may not be quite as much in the gas tank as if you hadn't lifted that morning.

so I would say, lift in the morning, stretech. go to class at night and focus on technique.

I would assume you would need to do a lot of volume if only lifting once a week.

from everything i've ever heard here on sherdog, that may not be true kozma... i believe that "lifting heavy things" (see:why you should lift heavy things) and a few posters here believe that volume isn't the key to strength but the weight of what you are lifting... check out some of the training logs such as bacon's or smashius' logs and see what I'm talking about.

I would think that intensity, not volume, would be the key.

But you would certainly be able to support more volume without overtraining or frying the CNS.
